    When silkies drink water

Keep an extra waterer inside and switch it out in the morning and afternoon when the water freezes. Or we have a heat light I our coops it keeps water from freezing and helps with laying through the winter.

How long after a hen hatches an egg should they start laying again?

I have 2 silkie hens and both hatched an egg on January 5, one chick did not make it. We left the chick that lived in the coop with the momma hen, she has been a very good mom! Well she just started laying eggs again, one Wednesday and one today. She will not sit one them, she did the first...

    Aggressive hen

I am not really sure who laid the egg! Snow White had an egg hatch at the same time that the chick hatched but it didn't make it. Neither have laid any eggs since.

    Aggressive hen

This is what we came up with! You can see Snow White and Hunter snuggling together and Creamcicle up top in the box with her chick and a new egg she laid today! We may have a new chick in a few weeks!!

    Aggressive hen

So u think its because of the chick? That was my thought. We do have a rooster in there too. Creamcicle is not aggressive toward him. I will separate the her and the chick from Hunter and Snow White and see how that goes. Thank you!

The The chick is fine, it's the momma hen going after the other hen, and this is new since the chick hatched. She is a very good mom, I thought she may be being aggressive because if the chick. And the other hen is not defending herself, she bows her head to the floor and cowers, my...

Diary & Notes ~ Air Cell Detatched SHIPPED Chicken Eggs for incubation and hatching

Ye Yes she is after the other hen. I put food and water up on the shelf for the one that's getting beat on, the mom stays on the floor with the chick, so at least she can eat and drink in peace!
