No idea who the parents are...

its the extra toe that is confusing me too! The other chick born at the same time has an extra toe too but Im pretty sure she's from the egg produced by a black silkie/sultan with white silkie, which is understandable...but this one...no other eggs were used from that flock so no idea where the...

No idea who the parents are...

I had a broody hen so put a random selection of eggs underneath her. This chick has come out with green feathered legs and an extra toe... I only have one other bird with green legs and she is an Old English Game bird and im pretty sure it wasn't her eggs that went under. I have a white silkie...

    Poorly chick...

I’ve felt down both legs but it doesn’t seem to flinch at any particular part and they both feel ok. It’s gripping my finger with its feet too.... Won’t put any weight on them though and ends up wriggling around on its back

    Whole flock eating eggs

Thanks for all your comments. In response to more info: The flock has 130m2 to roam and its warm. The nest box is partially covered and filled with dust free wood shavings. It used to be completely covered in their coop but they took to pooping in it every night so i removed it and set it up...

    Whole flock eating eggs

I have a flock of 9 birds, 8 hens and a rooster. For the last 3 weeks they have been eating every single egg that is laid. If i see an egg being eaten, I've separated out the hen but I have got to the point that I've witnessed nearly all of them eating the eggs! I haven't pinpointed whether...

Anyone speak chicken? What is she trying to tell me...?

Thank you all. The girls are about 9 months old and only a few have been laying. I hadn't seen Blue showing any signs of laying yet so maybe she is ready. We have nest boxes but we have just moved them as we had mice getting in. We do also have a cockerel in with them but he has only just...

Anyone speak chicken? What is she trying to tell me...?

Came to see the girls this morning and Blue seemed really spooked, scratching at the sides of their enclosure, not very happy at all...Any idea what she is trying to tell me? (Couldn't figure out how to upload the video so have uploaded to instagram and copied link)...

    Sad Rooster

compared to the rest of the chicks, two of them had curled tail feathers, so we assumed these were the boys...ive attached another picture (bit blurry) but shows the tail feathers... I separate him out to feed pellets so that i know he is getting enough and they have a constant mound of active...
