Hope you get it.
When I had my fox issue I was always running outside at even the slightest squawk from my birds. I had no piece of mind till I shot the sucker.
When I started to have chickens go missing the only sign was feathers. Spotted a fox hanging around not long afterwards.
Caught the fox in the act later and promptly turned it into Swiss cheese with the help of my shotgun.
I have coyotes in my woods (hear them every night) but I’ve never had...
I’ve never even heard of painting hardware cloth.
Just make sure it isn’t something the chickens will pick at out of curiosity. I’d hate to have a chicken eat paint chips and poison itself.
The blu-kote spray is nice but it stains something fierce. Sprayed some on a chicken once and she decided to floof right afterwards and speckled my face with blue. So watch your skin and clothes, especially the latter.
I heard that Wazine isn’t for egg laying hens, though people on here say the eggs are perfectly fine after the withdrawal period.
And what about babies? I have three little ones and I don’t want to harm them with the medication.
I actually heard that DE doesn’t do jack for worms when eaten. It’s one of the reasons I’m asking for help because I have DE and using it would be simple but if it’s not going to do anything I’m not going to bother.
So I have worms. Pretty sure they’re roundworms (I’ll upload a picture if I can remember how to do that) I never knew chickens could get worms and I’ve had chickens for nearly ten years.
I remember spotting them and saying “That’s a weird place for a pile of roots....wait... they’re...
I planted a peach tree years ago. Obviously I'm a fruit tree newbie because I just sat back and let it do its thing and hoped the deer didn't kill it. Never knew there was more to it than that. Well now I have a peach tree that is absolutely overloaded with fruit. Like the entire tree is going...
I have a two year old Blue Wyandotte rooster who has had a recurring limp for the majority of his life.
The first time it happened I checked out his feet and found no swelling, heat, and nothing felt outright broken. Then he got better and I thought nothing of it. Well it happened again, he...
I know I get bees in my cracked corn I feed to the wild birds every year. They roll around in it and everything.
A little bit of research tells me that they are after the corn dust as a pollen substitute. This may be what's happening here.
Hiding eggs can sometimes mean the hen wants to go broody and sometimes it means that's just where the hen has decided she likes to lay.
My green egg layers are notorious for hiding their eggs yet they've never gone broody.
This is what I found one time when picking berries....
I've also...
I heard my birds raising a fuss earlier today and went out to check after they carried on for a few minutes. I saw a hawk take off down into the woods. I ran down to the coop as fast as I could but when I saw the feather pile I feared the worst. I followed the trail and found one of my banty...
Last night something attacked my young chickens. This morning I found my one and a half month old Golden Pencil Hamburg hurt. She is missing a big patch of skin right along the left side of her breast and her neck, close to her wing. She has no puncture wounds and she's not bleeding.
I...
