    Feather loss/ bump around eyes

Of course this is the first time they have gone in the coop by themselves at night, and I had to get them out. I did hear one of them sneezing when I went to them. The past couple of days she was making noises that sounded kinda duck-ish, so I thought she was finding her cluck, but I guess not...

    Feather loss/ bump around eyes

Thanks for the responses. I don't have a way to separate them, so should I treat all?

    Feather loss/ bump around eyes

A few of might girls seem to be missing feathers and have bumps around one of their eyes. Besides that, they seem to be acting normal. Thoughts? The last seems to have a bunch of little bubbles in the corner of her eye.

    Yawning, thirsty, something else?

There has been some reddish and runny stools, so I picked up some corid today. Thought some of it may have been intestinal lining, but there were some that clearly weren't. I just treated this girl's eyes with some neosporin, so we'll see how that does. Additionally, I tossed a little millipede...

    Yawning, thirsty, something else?

Her crop felt and appeared full, but it was soft. I added granite, and she seems to be doing it less now. The next thing I'm dealing with is this one. I tried cleaning her eye up a bit this morning before work with a warm, damp towel. When I get home, I'm going to apply some neosporin. The...

    Coop finally finished.

After a few months, I've finally finished my coop, and have 6 pullets that call it home.

    Yawning, thirsty, something else?

They were getting it previously. I got some this evening and will include with their food tomorrow. Will also check her crop tomorrow and update.

    Yawning, thirsty, something else?

I've read through several posts on this topic, but didn't really find a satisfactory answer, so I took a video. Also, these are my first foray into backward chickens, so I'm a total noob, besides what I've learned here. She's about 6-8 weeks old, and was living with the other 5 when I got them...

    Roll away nest box floor

I'm just about finished building my coop, and am trying to decide what to use for the floor of my rollaway nest box. I was going to use that green outdoor carpet, but am thinking it might not have enough pitch to roll away. The floor has an 11° drop. I was thinking of using foam play squares...

    Ground pine stumps

So, I'm getting close to finishing my cucurrent coop. Today I had 4 pine trees cut down and the stumps ground. Would the chips be suitable for using in my coop? I was thinking of bagging a bunch up. Thoughts? I imagine it might need to be dried to prevent mildew?

You know you're a backyard chicken owner when...

No chickens yet, but did leave work early yesterday so could get some paint down before bed weather rolls in Saturday.

    Chicken wire or hardware cloth?

I was just about to suggest this as well. The below links to 48" x 50' of 1/2" mesh for $62. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001QINT6M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Coop entrance ramp - too steep?

Thanks for the notes. As it is, it is 3' off the ground. I plan on having internal nesting boxes at floor level (may change to external at a later date, or may change it up before I finish). That side of the coop has 3' of head room. The roosting bars will go on the other side, which has 4'...

Coop entrance ramp - too steep?

Thanks for all the ideas. I think I may put in a landing that they can hop onto, as well as a shorter ramp up to the landing.

Coop entrance ramp - too steep?

Thanks for the replies. I updated my location as well (lower AL). The coop will be something like a lean-to, 7 feet at highest, and 6 at the lowest. The roosting bars will be in the taller area, which is 4 feet high inside (as it is now) and the coop is 6'x6', with the run being 12'x6...
