Is the coop well enclosed? Could be a hawk/falcon/eagle/ raccoon/skunk /snake that got the little guy. That stinks.

New From Jersey... Yes chickens in New Jersey :-)

Watch the hawks. They've been lurking quite a bit around town now. There's a few falcons as well but only seen one of them this years so far.If I had to guess it's definitely imo the hawks killing your flock.Turkey vultures are more likely to eat dead animals, road kill etc. They are lazy birds who...

I walked out to my shed which is next to my coop and 2 of my chickens were out of the coop, perched on top of it just now(at night) in the pouring rain.No clue why and they've never done it before to my knowledge... Be VERY careful with zip ties. They get them caught on something or pick/peck at them they will definitely tighten up too much. You could wind up having to amputate if it got too tight. There isn't really any way to cut it off the leg either if it gets that tight.

If she does take one of the two tell her to take the one with the longer skinnier tail feathers. He was great with the girls and very kind...the other one...not so nice but i think it was because he knew he wasn't the #1 roo so took it out on the girls.

I'm in Monroe Twp. My neighbors didn't exactly complain or call but I was getting people staring over and pointing etc when they kept crowing. My 2 closest neighbors don't care at all but I figured why wait and then lose the whole flock. It was only a matter of time. I do know a few farms around...

Went over to see Bruce ( jersey chickens) today. TONS of chicks and ducklings galore. I picked up a cinnamon queen, two speckled sussex and a light brahma. Feels great to have chicks again and a nice spring day (weather wise). Warm weather is upon us soon and I'm now being "papa" to some new...
