    Frizzle With 5 Toes?

They definitely look like frizzles. They could be sizzles (lowercase s) which is typically a frizzled (something) x Silkie that has some Silkie characteristics but not all the ones they should to be Sizzles (capital S). I have 3 sizzles - two are frizzled and have 5 toes, but red combs, one has...

    Cockerel or pullet

And they all look like pullets.

    Cockerel or pullet

Where did they come from oringinally? If they aren’t from a hatchery, they could be BBS Amerecaunas. If they are hatchery, than they are EEs.

Solved: Black Sex Link! Barred Rock? Or maybe a Dominique?

Holy cow, that’s him! Thanks! I wonder how many BSL cockerels ended up in the BR bin...

Solved: Black Sex Link! Barred Rock? Or maybe a Dominique?

I took in this rooster from a friend that ended up with an extra. He was purchased last year from TSC as a Barred Rock. But in looking at pictures of BR roos, I’m not convinced he’s pure BR, and maybe he isn’t BR at all - he looks a lot like a Dominique in my very inexperienced opinion. It’s...

    Mystery chicks

Gather round and identify my chicks! I stopped at TSC today and they had just gotten in a chick shipment. They had Silkies, which I’ve been watching for, so I got three - and they had a bunch of chicks that were unmarked in a bin from a previous shipment so I got two I think they are either...

7w Easter Egger mix - sexing help

This chick is half EE, and my roo was sold to me as a Jersey Giant but I've been told by y'all he isn't full JG. This baby turns 7w old today! I am pretty sure the saddle feathers I see coming in are rounded. The other chick from this clutch (though different parentage) is a cockerel, so I'll...

    Rubber spray applied to wood

We used the FlexSeal spray around the base of our chicken house to seal the wood. We left the doors open and allowed it to air for 48 hours (and then it was another few days before the chooks moved in) and it's been fine.

    cutest chicken names!

All of mine are named after Harry Potter or Star Trek. Ginny Tonks Luna Delores Gabrielle Lavender Fleur Narcissa Cho Hedwig Lily Hagrid (my Jersey Giant rooster) T'Pol Seven (of Nine) B'Elanna Neelix (my frizzled Cochin/Silkie rooster) I've had, at other times, Bellatrix, Hermione, Molly...

    Check out my "Peep Feeder"!

One of my hens hatched two chicks two weeks ago (our first babies!). I put a small feeder with chick starter and a small waterer in the run since the babies are too small to reach the regular ones (and since they need the chick food). I've been frustrated by the big chickens eating all of the...

    Broody feathers

I have a broody hen, she's a frizzled Cochin/Silkie cross. She's been sitting on her eggs for 13 days and all four are viable as of last night. This morning is the first time I've seen her off the nest (& I am sure it's just temporary, she's been a very diligent mother so far) but I noticed...

Giant, Sizzle, and PR sexing help, please

I think she didn't know. The longer I talked to her, the more I realized she was relatively new to chickens and *probably* didn't know what she was doing (her setup was pretty good, but she wasn't really sure on ages and apparently sexes!), but the birds seemed healthy and I was already mentally...

Giant, Sizzle, and PR sexing help, please

Damnnnnn it. I don't do roos. That'll teach me. I got caught up in chicken math and didn't do due diligence. I'll probably give them a little longer just to make sure they aren't just manly hens (wishful thinking, I know) and then put 'em on Craigslist. Sigh.

Giant, Sizzle, and PR sexing help, please

I bought these chicks 3 weeks ago. I foolishly didn't read up on how to sex them prior to purchasing, so I took the lady at her word that everyone was a pullet. I'm pretty sure my PR is a cockerel, and I'm worried some of the others are as well :( She was very vague as to ages, so I'm just...
