Two-three week old chicks and no heat?

Okay, thanks! I won't stress so much then. Temperature in here stays right around 70 so maybe for the rest of the week I'll keep the lamp off during the day to kind of harden them off for night in the coop!

Two-three week old chicks and no heat?

Hi guys!! So I have a quick question for y'all. We currently have 27 chicks in a brooder in our house. They're all between 2-3 weeks and have been thriving little chicks! But last night we had a bad storm and at some point in the middle of the night a breaker must have tripped because I woke up...

    EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE!!!

Thanks! The rest of the chicks are doing great. They're all eating and drinking, and I found the marbles and put them in the waterer. I'll have to try giving them some scrambled eggs! They did catch a grasshopper earlier, it was super cute! There are two of them, an EE and a BCM, that run up...

    EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE!!!

Thank you! :) They're so precious, I don't think I'll ever try another broody hen after this experience. I could just sit in the garage and watch them sleep all day.

    EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE!!!

Good ideas! I had marbles around here somewhere, and my husband cleaned the garage so naturally they disappeared. As soon as he's home we'll track them down! Heading out to put a small tray of food out now, and then heading to the "what breed is this" board to see if I can find any chicks that...

    EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE!!!

Well, the little chick passed. :( I tried what I could, but she didn't respond to anything. Her eyes wouldn't track movements, wouldn't open her mouth, no movement apart from shallow breathing. I wrapper her in a washcloth and tucked her in my cleavage, thinking maybe it'd help if she heard my...

    EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE!!!

Some not so great news... One of our eggs hasn't hatched/rattled/pipped/peeped all day. I'm beginning to think the chick didn't make it, but I'm still waiting. All of the rest have hatched, so we have seven chicks! However, one has a bit of yolk that still hasn't been absorbed...acting normal...

    EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE!!!

I wish! I have two toddlers....no rest for me today! I'm definitely going to go to sleep early tonight, though. Gotta go set up a brooder for them, I'm sure it won't be long and they'll all be hatched! I'm so excited you guys, I can't believe we pulled this off.

    EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE!!!

Sorry it took so long for me to respond, but thank you for all of your support!! We have five little chicks, and three more eggs pipping! I did help that little chick, she was shrink wrapped. I just did what chicapee suggested, and then waited until she kicked herself out. (That was around 3:30...

    EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE!!!

I don't even know what that means. (The air cell part.) Haha. I'm in over my head!! That egg is almost a perfect oval, but the pip is in the right place near the round end. Should I assist soon, or wait?

    EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE!!!

We have two babies, both came from my only two blue eggs! I'm worried about a couple of the other eggs though. The one that is open the most was the first to pip. She's not rotating at all, and I can see the clear membrane has pulled away from the egg and is stuck against her. She still chirps...

    EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE!!!

She's one of our new girls. When we decided to get chickens I did a bunch of research and decided I wanted buff orpingtons. Of course, when we were finally ready for them there were none available, and we ended up with quite a variety! I finally found two BOs and got them last week, and they...

    EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE!!!

I think what was making it so hot was being outside. It's so hot and humid here already I thought that would help, but now I'm getting a steady reading of 98.6 since I brought them inside. Better for me anyways, I've been sweating like crazy from staring at them in our hot shed. Lol. Of course...
