There is still hope :) As soon as he went back into his incubator he started to rock and wobble and is still doing so now every 30 seconds or so. This is the first time I have seen any movement from the egg since day 19 :)
Incubator was homemade, 37.5c, run dry until lockdown at which humidity...
Just did your water test as suggested and unfortunately I did not see any movement off the egg, but it did float. Yes I do like to candle every couple days before lockdown, I like observing their development :) This is the first time i've purchased eggs online
Sack that, as soon as I posted...
Hello,
I've been struggling with 2 batches of silkie eggs I had sent to me through the post. From the first batch 3 eggs was clear, 2 died on day 6, and I have 1 remaining. I got a second batch sent to me from the same seller as part of their guarantee but every egg had busted air cells and...
Hello everybody. Unfortunately when I have just gone to check on her, she had passed away. Thank you to everyone who has helped to ensure she had the best shot at survivng and she was comfortable.
The little chick is still fighting and seems a bit stronger today and wailing her head avout but is still not that great. Her fur isn't fluffing up even after 3 baths but has managed to open one of her eyes half way. I am trying to keep her comfortable as much as I possibly can.
Okay, I have done as you suggested. She is in a cup in the incubator surrounded by a damp cloth. There is only a small amount of yolk so hopefully she will be okay. I will update when something changes.
Thanks
Thanks everyone for the good wishes! Also tha k you for the link, it was a good read.
I left the chicks last night with half of the shell open and thought they might be able to make their own way out at that point and raised the humidity and let them be. This morning they hadnt progressed. So...
I was just alittle confused by this, because surely unless they were identical twins, they would have to have their own blood network. So if they shared an inner membrane, then half of the blood in the membrane would belong to the other chick?
I cannot, I hope that is not a bad sign for the other, but I hear its common for one to not make it in twins.
Quick update:
I was looking at the exposed membrane and the blood had gone. I began to peel back the membrane and have managed to uncover all of the membrane covering the chick from...
Thank you for everbodys help so far.
The membrane still has lots of vessles with blood in them so I wont be able to look at anything more than I can see from the surface. Just so that everybody is clear of what I am talking about, I have attached a picture of the egg. You can see a piece of fur...
Actually, I think this chick is not positioned properly. I was just looking at that guide again which said to remove a small section off shell and oiter membrane until you can see the beak. I had broke the shell and outer membrane but didnt locate the beak. I have just had another go at finsing...
I candled the twins this morning and theres still life, so I have pipped the egg near the beak in the air sac and it has been tweeting! Im wetting the membrane every couple hours. Does anybody know when I should begin to try and get them out? I don't think they wohld have enough room to zip...
