I just bought a pair of year old turkeys that have been free ranges all their lives but I have them in a run for now while they get used to me. I’ve been feeding them a mixture of hen scratch(milo, cracked corn, etc), layer pellets, and even sweet feed, but it doesn’t seem like they care much for...
Thanks for all the input guys. She ended up laying another egg in the spot o lit the first one. She has even covered them up. Hoping she decides to lay more. Thanks again!
so I just bought a pair of adult bronze turkeys a couple of days ago and have them in a medium-sized holding pen until I get there big run finished. I knew that the hen would start laying soon, but I went out today and found an egg in the middle of the pen. I had a nesting area in the pen for...
Just wanted to update that I went and bought another humidity gauge and my other 2 were wrong. I'm running 55% humidity now. Much better. Also, were you able to successfully sex your ayems?
Yeah I just hate to risk it. These are ayem cemani eggs that cost $80/dozen. And they are a friend's so I'm hoping it all works out. Thanks for the help
It's an off brand that I've borrowed from some friends. Seems to be pretty close to secondary readings that I have put in. No water is in the incubator. I just went out to candle the egg so and my humidity was down to around 63. Maybe it's dropping my at night.
So I live in Louisiana and the humidity has been terrible so far this summer. I've got eggs in the incubator that are on day 8 but I can't get my humidity down. I've got rice in with them. I've put card board in with them. And they are in an air conditioned shed. I was able to hatch 18 of 22...
So as far as this bird goes, I think it's just an eye infection. Got some tylen50 to give it. Hopefully it helps. As far as the bitties, I think they got too cold. It's like 85 degrees during the day her in Louisiana but drops down to 50s at night. Put a heat lamp on them now. Hopefully it...
This is one of my 6 week old pullets. I noticed a week ago that her left eye was bleeding so I isolated her and started her in tetracycline. I also started putting antibiotic ointment on her eye. It's not really getting worse but it's not getting better. I can't keep her from scratching at it...
What do you think? I've had her in isolation for a week and I'm giving her antibiotics and putting triple antibiotic ointment on the eye. I just can't keep her from clawing at it. I've had 2 littles die in the lady 4 days and another acting sick. I'm afraid I might have some issues.
That's hilarious! Probably so. It was my first time hatching and I thought I'd be able to keep track of which chicks came from which eggs but I failed. My real issue is that the black ones look like black sex link and I do have a barred rock gen but I don't think any were her eggs. I thought my...
I actually think he leghorn was a cross between the same "RIRxLeghorn". I got them from the leghorns from an old man and I think that's what he said. but I still didn't think it would end up with a black chick.
I bred my RIR over all my hens, and I am having trouble figuring out which chicks came from which eggs. I do know that one of the black chicks came from one of the leghorn eggs. Is this possible?
