Snowball was attacked by something about 3 weeks ago. I brought her in, cleaned up her wounds and have been applying warm saltwater compresses to her eye. She is getting vitamins in her feed and acv in her water. Nothing is helping her eye.
I need suggestions, please. Snowball is the chick...
I'm turning them 3-5 times a day. I just got an automatic turner that will rotate them 6 times daily. This is the first time I've had this happen so I wasn't sure if I could do anything. I guess it's just a hope and pray thing now.
I'm on day 11 of a hatch. I just candled my eggs and one of the chicks seems to be stuck to the shell! It's moving around for the most part, but doesn't float to the center and back. It stays right where it is. How do I un-stick it? Is it viable? What do I do?
I have a flock of about 30 chickens. Over the last few days they've all stopped eating. They free range the back yard and I provide laying pellets and scratch grains. I'm used to seeing nice full almost bulging crops. Now they are all avoiding eating unless I bring them treats from the house...
An update on Blondie...
She's still got a few bald spots, but the chicken saddle is hiding those. She's happy, healthy and laying again. It took about 6 weeks for her to heal up, but then again, she did have some major injuries.
My poor Rock is SICK! She's been hiding in the coop for 2 days. I forced her out this afternoon and omg I'm scared. Her crop is mushy like really soft clay. Her comb is purple and fallen over.
I tried to get her to vomit and a tiny little bit of orange mucus came out but I can't get her to...
My Orpington "Blondie" flew over the fence onto the neighbor's yard while their dogs were out. She survived but has a few deep cuts. I'm bathing her to keep them clean. She's currently in the house in a dog crate to protect against the others from pecking at her. She's eating and drinking, but...
I could use some help identifying the gender of my baby Fuzzyfeet. I bought 2 pullets. Imagine my surprise when one started crowing. Now the other's gender is in question.
I bought what I thought were 2 pullets a few months ago. Imagine my surprise when one started crowing last week. It's kinda funny that Ladybird is a roo. My question is this... Fuzzyfeet hadn't started started crowing and "its" comb and waddles are still pink where as Ladybird's are red. Do I...
I nearly died last night when I returned home and couldn't find my chickens in MY yard. After some searching, I find my youngsters hiding behind a pallet leaning against my house with one of my bigger girls. This in itself was odd because the bigger girls and the younger ones formed 2 seperate...
I've started working on the coop (s?)... With no plan. I'm using a mental image and scavenged wood from construction sites. Kinda figuring it out as I go and taking pictures...
My oldest daughter visited this weekend and was able to see a beating heart in one of the eggs in the incubator. She...
