Hello, my little town legalized backyard chickens 3 weeks ago. I have been in a frenzy using my old coop and adapting it with a run. Tomorrow the roof goes on and then hopefully the girls Tuesday!! So excited to be back!

Wolfing down cat food...will they climb in an open coop?

I was sooooo excited...the eggs were perfect brown eggs...we used one and I gave the second one to my neighbor...then nothing. Thursday my son left the door to the coop shut, and I think that's when the laying happens..during the day...so that might have thrown her off...but then nothing...

My girls LOVE watermelon. Since I have a five-year-old and a year old granddaughter, there are all kinds of leftover treats...cut up grapes, half eaten bananas, they eat the watermelon down to the green skin.Waffles with butter and syrup, crusts from peanut butter sandwiches...it all goes out back!

I have three cats, but one is an immature, about nine months, and he's been stalking the chickens. I have two four month olds...one a Plimoth and one is a RIR, the other is about three months old and she's a frizzle Wyandotte. So far he chases them around the yard and hasn't caught them. I try...
