That’s a great idea! Cedar fence panels are my friend! I used them for raised beds last summer.

Any suggestions for a quick windbreak to put by my door for my chickens? They hang out by my patio door all day, for the heat escaping the house maybe? It’s 18 degrees here and I feel bad. Maybe if they had something to block the wind they’d be warmer.

Is it normal to get a really small egg every once in a while? She’s been laying since November. It’s one of my white leghorns. Edit: they are receiving supplemental lighting, if that makes a difference.

It's gotten cold here, so I've started giving my girls chicken scratch at night, in addition to their regular food. How much should I give them? Should I give it to them in the mornings too?

Its the first snow of the year. They finally left their coop but they’ve been camped out by my door. Poor girls. One of my two leghorns laid their first egg today too!

They’re 21 weeks old. I have six of them. Any ideas how to make a temporary partition cheaply and not too time consuming? It’s not too cold yet, but it will be soon so wanted to winterize their coop as quickly as I can.

I’m not sure where to put this thread, sorry. I read one way to make sure your coop doesn’t get too cold is to paint the wood so it doesn’t absorb moisture. My coop does seem to get very damp, I’m trying to fix it. Anyway, obviously the chickens can’t be in there for a couple days. How would I...
