I am so sorry to hear about Fern! I don't frequent BYC anymore, my life has taken me in a different direction as my daughter has grown up. We still have a few daughters of Fern roaming around in the front pasture, happy as can be. I won't tell them about their Mama, I don't want to upset...
I suspect this is a light Brahma. Feathers go down the outside of the legs, almost covering the feet. Looks like a pea comb, bumps on both sides of the beak, then straight back into the feathering of the forehead.
Can't tell male or female.
This is my suspected OEGB. I believe this one is a...

This is Fritz and Roo two 30 week old Silver Phoenix Roosters.
This is Spot. She is a Mottled Java. (RIP Spot)
We got very confused about Spot and thought for a while she was an Ancona. Turned out she was a Mottled...
Yellowing in white feathers has two sources. Corn in the feed, and sun exposure. So if they are constantly out enjoying the sun they will yellow. This is one of the reasons they don't let show birds free range after a molt.

I'm not sure I would try a deliberate cross. The Barred Rock came from Cyn, and the NHR came from the Extension office (Hatchery I'm sure) as part of my daughters Poultry Project. While I know the exact Rooster, I have no clue which hen.
The breeding was accidental, we had a coop taken...
Oh, I haven't talked to Beth in forever!!! How is she doing? Shipped eggs are really hard. It really depends on where you are in regards to the airport, and how many switches it goes through via the land post offices etc.
Most of my Dellies are SpeckledHens...some are from other sources...
Thanks Kathy, That Helps a LOT. I will Take the Best Built Female and Male and build on those two. For the first Breeding this year. I'm going to schedule my NPIP cert soon. So I'll be selling the ones that I don't want to keep as layers. I'm getting a dozen and a half eggs a day right now...
Hello Everyone, Long time no see.
It has been the WORST year. I haven't bred a single chick since I have been gone. We have lost my Grandfather, my Dad, and my Uncle. I have been away from my farm more often than I have been here over the last year supporting my Brother and Sister through...
Ok, I haven't had time to follow the Delaware thread, right now I am sitting in the Hospital waiting for my Dad to get out of Surgery.....and I just read this. I can't believe that Thor has passed!!! OMG.....You must be devastated!!!!!! HUGS to you! How are the girls doing without their...

Hey all,
Just popping in to say Hey. Not much in Chicken news except I think that SawsAll has started to lay. We are getting some Speckled Delaware type eggs all of a sudden....The only other near POL hen would be Pebbles, and as a Java I don't expect her to lay until about 26 weeks or so as...
Kathy,
I am so sorry you have to downsize, and for your loss of birds. I know that I can not handle more than my two breeds. My daughter has her Barred Rocks from Cyn, and now her New Hampshire Reds for her 4H poultry project, but she knows they are HER birds...I just can't handle more. If...
Hey,
Kathy, Cyn - you missed the post of my pic's of Isaac's boys. I posted pics of my two favorite boys. They are a few pages back with Jeremy's hatch.
Let me know how they compare to your boys. Remember they were hatched March 5th for age comparison.
