Should I be concerned about speckled eggs? I found an egg with spots on it today (you can see a cluster of raised specks in the light). My other hen seems to be laying smooth, light brown eggs like normal!

SO I have two chicks who are about 2 weeks old.....A barred rock and a buff orpington. So far everything has been great, EXCEPT:

My barred rock and buff orpington chicks love to peck at their pine bedding for something interesting. They are 4-5 days old. Is there anything I can give them to peck at that won't involve ingesting pine shreddings? :) Thanks!

Also, I didn't have any marbles or aquarium pebbles to put in the water bowl so I just grabbed some small-ish rocks from outside and washed them thoroughly in hot water with soap. Hopefully that does the job!
Thanks for responding! The brooder is in my closet so there is certainly no draft. The chicks have quieted down now. They are probably tired out after the stressful car ride.
