Hmm. I would definitely look into that. Especially if it's happening frequently.

Should I be concerned about speckled eggs? I found an egg with spots on it today (you can see a cluster of raised specks in the light). My other hen seems to be laying smooth, light brown eggs like normal!

Hello BYC! My barred rock and buff orpington chicks love to peck at their pine bedding for something interesting. They are 4-5 days old. Is there anything I can give them to peck at that won't involve ingesting pine shreddings? :) Thanks! Lauren

Also, I didn't have any marbles or aquarium pebbles to put in the water bowl so I just grabbed some small-ish rocks from outside and washed them thoroughly in hot water with soap. Hopefully that does the job!
