    Chick hatched with three legs

I have, it's doing good so far and is slowly figuring out how to walk. I should get a better picture later on, but it has such a strange deformity. I haven't been able to find a similar case of polymelia yet. The extra leg is actually connected at the hock. There's even webbing inbetween the two...

    Chick hatched with three legs

I had a broody hen hatch out 12 chicks, three of which have leg deformities/issues. One hatched with spraddle leg, another with fused toes, and now this one with a third leg and extra toe on the the otherwise normal leg. I'm wondering if I should leave the extra limb or remove it now to avoid...

    Rooster has strange red joints

Now that I'm looking at it, it seems to strangely be only the upper half of the joint on both legs thats red. It doesn't continue above that point at all, I separated his feathers to be certain. He's a little under a year old now and is in a flock of twenty I all raised as chicks up. They're in...

    Rooster has strange red joints

I was out doing my chores today when I noticed how red his leg was. I don't have a clue what this is from. He is healthy and well outside of the strange red joints. Maybe from roosting too much due to the cold weather?

    Muscovy with strange bump

Thank you for the response. I'll definitely be wrangling her again tonight to drain and open it up more.

    Muscovy with strange bump

I have an about 5 month old female muscovy with what I had believed to be a cyst on the front of her face near her bill. It was about the size of a grape and I aspirated it last night expecting pus or some sort of infected looking contents to come out. Instead, it was an almost completely clear...

    Chicken nail ripped

I would isolate to make sure the bleeding doesn't get out of control. You can pour a bit of corn starch or flour on her foot to clot it if it won't on its own. You can also stick a bandaid on that toe to help give a buffer to prevent any more bleeding.

    Rooster with shrill raspy crow

I have a 7 month old golden sebright rooster who suddenly developed a very squeaky hoarse crow three days ago. I immediately separated him from the flock and have been keeping a close eye on him for respiratory issues. His eyes are clear, no discharge from nose or beak(inside of beak and...

    Jersey Giant Silkie Crosses

Yep, I like the idea of a giant Silkie. Jersey giants have always been one of my favorite breeds due to their size, so a big Silkie with the potential of higher egg production is the goal in mind. It's new territory for me, but I like the thought of adding some more versatility to a breed that...

    Jersey Giant Silkie Crosses

I recently got back into chickens and I'm at the very beginning of a breeding project. My initial goals in mind are to create a larger Silkie with the versatility of the Jersey giant with egg and meat production. I've had my first crosses hatch from my homemade incubator test. This is a fun...

Sick Rooster with clear liquid pouring from beak

Thank you for the link. His crop was under half full this morning, but did seem squishy as sour crop is described. Since I still haven't noticed any smell yet, I decided to try massaging it for a little while and see if that made any difference to start. I've just checked on him again now and it...

    Chicken with possible hematoma?

For anyone else that may have the same thing happen, by managing any scratching, the chick made a full recovery. I have ended up with a healthy silkie rooster.

Sick Rooster with clear liquid pouring from beak

I went out to do my coop chores this morning and noticed one of my roosters had a clear liquid pouring from his beak each time he brought his head down to eat. I've since brought him inside to monitor his droppings and sure enough, they don't look good. I checked his crop as soon as I saw the...
