I came across this website and I think it is superb! I have had chickens all my life, but never HRIR and would like to get started with a trio of HRIR (rosecombs if possible). Can anyone have a starter trio available and willing to ship or can anyone direct me to someone who does? Please PM...
Did any of the araucana breeders find a laughing crower in this year breeding? Someone at the araucana forum was mentioning about funny crowers at the early age of one week. Can that be something genetically related to the laughing crow? What do you think?
So far they are breeding true. Once in a while I get a few strange chicks, but so far they have been very good, lay very well and hens are excellent setters. They lay different color eggs whites/cream/brown. This year I introduced the araucana gene to get the blue color. In terms of size, I...
This is my buff cockerel, 5 months old. He is developing really well, even thou he has no tufts, but he is doing really well with the hens. What do you think of him in terms of his color, type, etc? Also, since he is my only buff, what will be the best match in terms of color to get more buffs...
This is the family of naked neck bantams I have been working on for several years now. They are the size of a serama, rumpless (no tail), Type A-B, some with muffs, vigorous and alert. I enjoy them a lot. What do you think?

That sounds great. Where are you getting yours from? I have one buff bantam araucana about 1 month old. I think is a male, but not 100% sure.
I would like to get more buffs, but since I only have one, I'm not sure which color to choose to mate this male to get more and/or better...
Like you mentioned Megcpat, it is hard to get those chicks to hatch and fertility has been a concern for many people in the araucana breed. The 5 ones hatched from skyblue are doing great so far and developing strong. I really wish you the best with yours if you decide to get more eggs or chicks.

Very interesting point. In your case, you have been able to assessed over 20 breeds and have noticed the different crowing, so maybe there is something really interesting behind the abilities of the araucana roosters in terms of crowing. That may also have a relation with the type of...
I have posted a thread in relation to The Laughing Crow of the Araucana Rooster under Breeds, Genetics & Showing in case anyone is interested. This topic seems fascinating.

In her book "Araucanas - Rings on Their Ears", p.37, Cathy Brunson mentions the laughing crow of the araucana rooster. She suggests that "the trait may be recessive and it sounds much like human laughter." I was wondering if any of you here in this forum have come across this trait in any of...

THAT'S FANTASTIC!!!!!!! I have been thinking of you and wondering if there was any way the eggs made it to you still viable. Well, I guess so! Congratulations! Any photos of the babies?

Hi:
I got my first batch of araucanas from skyblueeggs. In my case, I had 11 eggs ship to Puerto Rico. Five hatched without problem this weekend. Beautiful and strong chicks. Four died in the shell prior to hatching and two were infertile. So, in my case, I think a had a little more luck...
