Getting Rid of Mosquito larvae in duck pond

Hi I've got a small ornamental pond that I fill up for my ducks (probably 5 feet long, couple of feet deep). There is no aeration....I usually just empty and refill cause you know - ducks! However this year.....mosquito larvae seem to breed super fast...I was wondering what I could use to...

Hi I don't have any answer but I'm following this thread....I've had the heat lamp on all night as one of the my ducks is staying wet (oil gland issues) and this let's him dry out. What i'm noticing is that all the ducks seems bit "fiesty" for this time of year...and egg production is increasing.

    Really Wet Duck...is this normal?

Got him dried off (the rains finally broke) ...put a heat lamp in the coop. All the other ducks would play in the rain....he would play then come in and warm up. Not many feathers left on his chest....just "down". Seems happy. I'll try to keep him warm and give some vitamins. Hopefully just a...

    Really Wet Duck...is this normal?

Well I checked out his oil gland....I could hardly see it! It didn't look inflamed. It was hard to see anything! I gave it a good wash with warm water, massaged a bit of oil....which he hardly seemed to noticed which sounds odd. I kept him wrapped in a warm towel for awhile and tried to dry him...

    Really Wet Duck...is this normal?

Well, I've put more straw in the coop (he can go in whenever he wants) and the heat lamp. But nooooooo......he stands out in the rain with the flock. I think I'll have to put him inside..... So far, he seems healthy so I guess I'll keep an eye on him.

Hi We have a small flock (10) of ducks. One duck is a male crested...something. He is white with some grey and quite a large bird. He is doing fine but I've noticed that when he plays in the water (swims in pond, rains, etc) he gets soaked! The other ducks seem more water repellent. He isn't...

Hi Patty Thanks for the response. Am I correct that you mean a vitamin E capsule? I'll give it a try. Got some water with electrolytes in her. She keeps trying to stand and move...and falling over. So sad! I've got her by herself but she keeps shaking. Linda
