Hi
I've got a small ornamental pond that I fill up for my ducks (probably 5 feet long, couple of feet deep). There is no aeration....I usually just empty and refill cause you know - ducks!
However this year.....mosquito larvae seem to breed super fast...I was wondering what I could use to...
Hi
I don't have any answer but I'm following this thread....I've had the heat lamp on all night as one of the my ducks is staying wet (oil gland issues) and this let's him dry out. What i'm noticing is that all the ducks seems bit "fiesty" for this time of year...and egg production is increasing.
Got him dried off (the rains finally broke) ...put a heat lamp in the coop. All the other ducks would play in the rain....he would play then come in and warm up. Not many feathers left on his chest....just "down". Seems happy. I'll try to keep him warm and give some vitamins. Hopefully just a...
Well I checked out his oil gland....I could hardly see it! It didn't look inflamed. It was hard to see anything! I gave it a good wash with warm water, massaged a bit of oil....which he hardly seemed to noticed which sounds odd. I kept him wrapped in a warm towel for awhile and tried to dry him...
Thanks so much! I'll take a look at his gland tomorrow...hate to say I'm not sure what I'm looking for but I'll check. Miss Lydia....thanks for the link....wet feathers sounds like what it is! Where we live (Vancouver Island BC Canada) we had a drought all summer so the ground was dry. Lately...
Well, I've put more straw in the coop (he can go in whenever he wants) and the heat lamp. But nooooooo......he stands out in the rain with the flock. I think I'll have to put him inside..... So far, he seems healthy so I guess I'll keep an eye on him.
Thanks for your response.
Yoko is about 6-7 months....we really never noticed him staying so wet before...he spent lots of time in the water when young and seemed ok. It is mostly this last month that its been so noticeable. He seems healthy and energetic and part of the flock. I'm wondering...
Hi
We have a small flock (10) of ducks. One duck is a male crested...something. He is white with some grey and quite a large bird. He is doing fine but I've noticed that when he plays in the water (swims in pond, rains, etc) he gets soaked! The other ducks seem more water repellent. He isn't...
Hi Patty
Thanks for the response.
Am I correct that you mean a vitamin E capsule? I'll give it a try.
Got some water with electrolytes in her. She keeps trying to stand and move...and falling over. So sad! I've got her by herself but she keeps shaking.

Hi everyone
Looking for some help!
I've a 2 year old broody Welsh Harlequin duck (Honker) who has been sitting on eggs for 3 weeks. She had a close encounter with an Eagle (very small cut) 2 weeks ago. Put polysporin on...has been fine. A good cranky broody duck.

Hi everyone
My Kakhi campbell drake, 1 yr old is "bothering" my chickens...the hens in particular by trying to mount them. He had lost his make 6 months ago and finally found two new ladies for him. He loves them...but he keeps going after our hens. We have 1 drake, 2 duck ladies, 1 roo and 4...
Hi everyone
My khaki campbell drake seems to be developing abit of a coughing sound. Any ideas about what it might be and what to do about it? He is mature and the only duck with this noise (the two ladies are fine) plus I have 1 roo and 4 chicken hens.
thanks

Hi everyone
I've also posted over in the ducks section as I'm not sure if this was caused by my drake....but here is the problem.
I've a 2 yr old buff orp frizzle hen. She's hatched out a chick in January, always been in good health. After hatch, started to moult. Well, she always looks...
