Apologise, I didn't realise i had replies, It's definitely lice, that i am finally getting on top of having had to resort to using Ivermectin.
We had a crappy winter and late snow so their chances to dust were limited but i never thought of the Marek's allowing the lice in, now i'm getting on...
I have done more research than I ever have on this disease, I've had chickens for 20 years and never had a problem or new of it. Then I got fancy an bought birds from local papers etc.. and now i wished i hadn't, I seem to have problem after problem, if it's not worms, it's lice or something...

Do you only have hens? My husband says sometime hens and become cockerely is there isn't one already.. don't know how true that is but one of his mums hens crows similarly to this and they don't have a cockerel.. My husband might have been having me on though!
Where did you get the Permethrin and do you administer directly onto your birds? A lot of the American posters use Permethrin spray but i can't find it online at all!
