Hi everyone , this is my 7th year with backyard hens . This girl is over 6 years old and has been making this annoying squawk at first light and continues all day . She is eating. I was going to upload a video but that’s not available on here? How is someone supposed to help without hearing it ?

Only hens but I originally had three. Two have passed . The next week after losing my second girl I went and got 6 more giros so she wasn’t lonely . They all get along great she’s def top hen and keeps the other girls in order . She does not usually follow them around all day though . Lonely ? I am afraid my neighbors are going to say done so it’s a sticky situation. I don’t want to lose the ability to have chickens but I love crazy eyes do not sure what to do.

Some hens crow, or attempt to. I've got one that does it occasionally (and I also have roosters). I think they do it for the same reasons as roosters, it's just a way to tell the world 'here I am' and 'isn't life grand'. That hen isn't that loud and I've got some who's egg song is WAY worse than that! It may be temporary and she'll eventually stop. If she's doing it real early you can try blocking daylight into the coop until later in the morning. Unless your neighbors work nights and sleep all day, I can't understand the issue. I've got crows and jays that make more noise than that. Usually ordinance's cover roosters only, but check yours to see what is really allowed.

Whilst trying to google an answer, i found this old thread on here...

I'm afraid i have no idea what to do, i have cockerels so crowing is regular background noise and i live in the country, can hear them now as it happens..
