Maybe that's what's going on with mine, the other chickens aren't letting them in. Don't know what to do about that, I work nights so can't make sure they are in all the time and I know it'll just be a matter of time before a predator gets them.
I've had my chicks in the coop with the others in a smaller pen, and when I let them out they were fine but they weren't going in to roost with the others, instead I was finding them huddled together on the outside of the coop, so I moved the smaller pen in the roosting area and kept them in...
Seven of my c hicks were hatched about 5-6 weeks ago. I put them in a small pen inside the coop to let the adults get used to them, about four days ago I let them out and all has been fine. Yesterday I put them and pen inside where the chickens roost, when can I let the younger ones out again...
I've been incubating some eggs and one of my hens has finally decided to sit, can I put some of the eggs I've been incubating under her? Will she accept them when they hatch?
Well, I've lost all of the chicks.
I've set out rat traps a small live trap, a large live trap and whatever it is tripped all traps but I didn't catch anything, just don't get it.
Now something is going after the adult hens. I don't think it's a coon, though don't know, but they are not...
I know snakes don't rip the heads off chickens, I guess I phrased my questions wrong. I believe I have a couple of different predators. I thought maybe a snake because whatever got my babies the last time, there was no trace of them, rat traps had been tripped but nothing was in them.
Whatever...
How do I get rid of snakes?
I think I have several predators getting my chickens and I don't know where or how they are getting in. First it was just my baby chicks, and eggs, set rat traps and a small live trap. Nothing disturbed, nothing bothered. Next day trap was tripped but nothing in...
I let my daughter who is a teachers aide take some eggs to the school to be incubated for the kids, thinking it would be interesting for them. The kids loved having the chicks and watching them hatch. My daughter had read that chicks will bond with the first thing they see, which is apparently...
I don't know a lot about ducks other than they are messy and mean. I had a couple of rabbits and a couple of ducks and the ducks pecked off the rabbits face. I never thought a duck would do that. I decided there would never be another duck again
