One of two Colombian Wyandottes in my flock goes broody in the spring. She's good at gathering eggs from the other nesting boxes and I'm good at taking them away from her.
Here is a few pictures of my Gold Lases when they were about the same age as your pullet picture. How does your bird compare to these in color and feather pattern? I hope yours is a gold Lased, although they are scruffy looking as young pullets.
Like junebuggena said, the chick may be a mixed breed. I think it would be fun to sit back and watch what it turns into. It will start showing adult colors before you know it.
Barbed Rock chicks are similar in coloration. Rocks have a small white spot on top of their head and fluffy white bottoms. I can't tell if this is the case from your pictures.
The feed store I bought them from said they were pretty good at sexing chicks. I guess I should have believed them. 12 chickens are no trouble, just more chicken feed I have to buy.
The girls are 21 weeks old this week and I'm getting the coop ready for egg laying. I've got just a few more little things to do inside, things I didn't think about during the original construction.
