    Infectious coryza

The vet isn't an option unfortunately. Her water also has oxytetracycline in it. I'm in California so getting antibiotics is tough. I stocked up on some before the law took effect.☹️

    Infectious coryza

Good morning. I have a Polish hen that seems to have infectious coryza. Her eyes are swollen shut and weepy, she is congested and making noises as she breathes. She also has an odor coming from her face. I'm giving her tylan 50, and have her separate in a hospital crate. The rest of the...

    Deformed feet on Silkie Cochin

No pics. I tried, but he seemed to be in pain. Panting and not walking at all. I checked him over again and I think his leg is injured. So he's now in the hospital crate for a few weeks, and I'll see how he does.

    Deformed feet on Silkie Cochin

I l will get pics or video tomorrow. By the time I got home today it was already dark. I don't think it's Marek's disease though. His eyes are fine.

    Deformed feet on Silkie Cochin

I have a 4 month old Silkie Cochin cross rooster .(I saw him crowing, so I'm sure) A few weeks ago I noticed he was walking funny. Upon checking his feet, I noticed he has huge feathers... Real ones, not soft downy ones. It looked like the feathers were impeding his being able to stand or walk...

    Fodder problems

Hello All, I have been growing fodder for several months, Taking off the summer because it got brown, slimy mold from the heat. I finally got back started again, and after a few weeks of good fodder, I am having problems that I can't figure out. The root mat is super thick, but the grass...

    temperature issues

I bought a Little Giant 9200 used. I started it up, and after a few days of calibration, I got it dialed in. I set the eggs 24 hrs ago, had the temps bumped up to 104. I adjusted the thermostat but it jumped again to 106., I found a small fan and have it running but facing the wall to...

Ended Official BYC Caption Contest - 11/06/2017 - Pic by Fanci Feathers Marans

Donna The Chicken was enjoying her time in the lovely bubble bath... But the carrots and celery being chopped was being disruptive to her meditation time.

    All Saints Day Chicks

I'm setting a batch of eggs under a broody Buff Orp tonight. They should be All Saints Day chicks. Anyone want to join me?

    Big versus average

Today I went and bought some fertile hatching eggs from a breeder for my broody Buff Orp. The hens in her coops were HUGE! The Orpingtons were at least twice the size of my current flock, feed store Orps, EE's and RIR. I currently feed Layer pellets, and snacks in the form of left overs...

    Growing fodder for chickens (16)

Doesn't the water go bad/smelly quickly? I have a super small setup using plastic shoe boxes, but don't recycle it due to the smell. I'm in Southern California, so the climate may make a difference.

    Maybe going Broody?

I have a BO that is 8 months old, and noticed she is fluffing and clucking like she is going broody. I have eggs for her to hatch from a friend (I have no rooster) but am having an issue with the nest boxes. All 6 hens use the same nest box. I have 3, but apparently it has the best...

    Chickens with Respiratory Infections

So here I go... I have 4 hens that I have had for only 2 weeks, and they are all sick. I started them on Cephalexin 2 days ago when I noticed one had a runny nose, but they are all rattling, coughing, and have swollen eyes. I ran to get Tylan 50 at the feed store before they closed, and now...
