I have more than I was able to use up. I don't refrigerate mine so they are currently in a basket. I was planning on handing some out to friends and family, but would like to make sure they are fresh without ruining the bloom on them.
I know you can check to see their freshness with the water test. My concern/ questions is.. Will the bloom come off of them using that method? Is there another way to check the freshness without the water test? I don't want the bloom to come off of them from putting them in water.
What do you mean a bilateral clip? I though you just cut the flight feathers to their secondary ones. I just follow the line. Maybe I don't do it right🤔
I need to clip my leghorns wings. They are now flying out of their run and going to visit our neighbors house 🤦♀️. Before any time they got out they stayed in the yard. I know how to clip their wings but was curious as to how high leghorns can jump with one clipped wing? Or should I do both...

Mine are constantly trying to find a way to escape the run lol. From what I've read they can jump up to 6ft, so had to make a few more adjustments to our temporary run for them. Whenever I get home from work I usually have three who have escaped. Luckily my neighbor helps out and puts them back...
Will they still lay eggs or would they stop for the time being locked up? I was concerned that they would stop so I ended up opening up the old coop for the morning so they would still lay their eggs. If they stop would that be bad for them?

Thank you, this helps a lot. I'll show this to my husband so we can adjust the coop some more. Thank you, I really enjoy my hens. They are actually very friendly and enjoy to be petted and held. Never thought chickens were like that when we first got them.
My husband and I turned part of our shed/garage into a new coop for our chickens. We added two nesting boxes, a 46 inch in length roost which is 3 inches wide for them and sand for the floor( all-purpose from homedepot). There's still a little more to do I think, like add a window/more light...
