The PURINA GBS 30% is the gold standard to me. I've tried FRM and Dumors 28% and Purina is superior, their fastest growth is weeks 3-6 imho and they can gain ounces per week during that phase. Everyday they gain a percentage of their weight. The bigger they are, the more they gain.

is the Golden Speckled Coturnix Quail and the blond the same bird

Pure Roux birds carry the dilute gene- (requires 2 dilute alleles in males but only one in females to show), and look exactly like brown coturnix but lighter. Some call them roux, dilutes or egyptians. Pure Golden birds- Italians (carrying one fawn gene) and Manchurians (carrying two fawn...

    Can anyone explain why ?

white is recessive in brown quail like red is recessive in black cows. the "splits", brown quail carrying a white allele, do look slightly different if you are familiar with them.

I try to move the advantaged birds into their own digs and away from the riff raff around 4-5 weeks. once the males start chasing females and each other, the energy they take in is used towards other pursuits rather than gaining weight.

80g at 14 days is the first # I came up with for a standard, the updated # I shoot for is 84g=3 oz at 14 days. I have some birds from my first test hatch last weekend, only setting eggs from a few select birds that lay dark brown camo eggs at least 14grams. (<14 grams, and brown colored eggs are...
