I will certainly do this next time..I had quite a scare but she did stopped bleeding and I think all is good...and I agree with the quick-stop...it doesn't seem to do any good. I poured quite a bit on her foot and it kept bleeding....the only reason it stopped...

Well for the eggbound one, I took her to the Vet last time and he put her on antibiotics in case of infection. She never got septic from being egg bound and she seemed to be ok all this time. Her Tummy is very swollen and hard now. She also has the bumble foot..This poor Duck can't get a break...

    Added the roo!!!

My hens looked like they were beaten to smitherine...backs all bare, red bloody open sores on their backs..looked really sad. I too hated when the Roo mated with them. I had a Roo who would even try to mate with my ducks.....I did interfere with that because I wouldn't know wether to call them "...

Not sure what to do with Mum and new babies ?

So you have four chicks all together ? the same age ? Who is watching over the two that are inside ? If you have a Mother hen taking care of two inside babies, why don't you put the other two with them ? Surley the " Mother" will care for them all. I'm a little confused here. Sorry. Anyway...

Rain, 36 deg. & they won't go in the coop!

NO it's not really ok to let them get wet at all....although they may like being outside in the elements, they can get sick from being wet and then as it gets very cold at night, they can get respiritory infections. I came home one night and this was in the Fall and my chickens had been out in...

    After incubation?

smell the eggs. if they STINK, throw them out. If you candle them and see nothing formed, they're not fertile. I would wait a few more days but no more than that...should be hatched by now.

    Added the roo!!!

Hello, Ok, you got the roo to protect ? The roo will protect the hens alright but first he needs to establish his place among the flock. He will probably get "pecked" now and then and he will get agressive with the hens for being bullied so to speak but this will not last long. The Roo will...

    I have a broody hen?

I didn't even think to ask if you had a Rooster or not. If you don't, the eggs are definately not fertile but a hen can still go boody, fertile or not...but it's just as well you get rid of the eggs if you have no Rooster...eat em....
