Thank you so much for the advice. I will certainly do this next time..I had quite a scare but she did stopped bleeding and I think all is good...and I agree with the quick-stop...it doesn't seem to do any good. I poured quite a bit on her foot and it kept bleeding....the only reason it stopped...
Well for the eggbound one, I took her to the Vet last time and he put her on antibiotics in case of infection. She never got septic from being egg bound and she seemed to be ok all this time. Her Tummy is very swollen and hard now.
She also has the bumble foot..This poor Duck can't get a break...
Thanks, She's fine.
The bleeding finally stopped. I was worried it wouldn't but again, my animals never cease to amaze me.
she is resting and I will keep an eye on her...now the other one has bumble foot really bad and I have to deal w/ that now....never a dull moment..She is also egg-bound and...
Hi Folks, I have an emergency here I need help with as soon as possible...
I have a Female Pekin who lost a toenail and is bleeding like crazy...I applied the stop-bleed powder and it still won't clot....what to do ?
Should I wrap her foot in gauze and let it clot ? She is trying to stand on...
Don't worry...and don't wash it off unless it bothers you....the baby thinks the other one is her mommoyy...let her think that.
I see you have them in a wood box...is there any shavings in there ?
you should atleast put down news paper so they have a cushion.
why did you only get two ? do you...
I have very good " flock management skills" and good common sense....I also know how to spell. do you ?
You sound like a no-it-all and you have no idea where or how I buy my animals...I do research before buying...so cool your jets partner....

I'm sorry....but you are just three shades...
My hens looked like they were beaten to smitherine...backs all bare, red bloody open sores on their backs..looked really sad.
I too hated when the Roo mated with them. I had a Roo who would even try to mate with my ducks.....I did interfere with that because I wouldn't know wether to call them "...
Well with 1,118 post, you're certainly not new to this...LOL
I'ts so much fun when I can answer some ones questions....I have plenty of problems too and rely on this site for help.....Good decision to take the eggs away for now...Broody hens will sit on air when broody so if she wants to just...
So you have four chicks all together ? the same age ?
Who is watching over the two that are inside ?
If you have a Mother hen taking care of two inside babies, why don't you put the other two with them ? Surley the " Mother" will care for them all.
I'm a little confused here. Sorry.
Anyway...
NO it's not really ok to let them get wet at all....although they may like being outside in the elements, they can get sick from being wet and then as it gets very cold at night, they can get respiritory infections. I came home one night and this was in the Fall and my chickens had been out in...
smell the eggs. if they STINK, throw them out. If you candle them and see nothing formed, they're not fertile.
I would wait a few more days but no more than that...should be hatched by now.
Hello,
Ok, you got the roo to protect ? The roo will protect the hens alright but first he needs to establish his place among the flock. He will probably get "pecked" now and then and he will get agressive with the hens for being bullied so to speak but this will not last long. The Roo will...
I didn't even think to ask if you had a Rooster or not.
If you don't, the eggs are definately not fertile but a hen can still go boody, fertile or not...but it's just as well you get rid of the eggs if you have no Rooster...eat em....
Broody or not this time of year is not a good time to have little babies....too darn cold. Unless you "want" to have babies and can provide a dry, warm place for two to three months....like inside your house....uuuugh !! Been there, done that....not fun ......
I never had a broody hen during the...
Hello, Chickens do not really like getting wet. Usually they will find a shelter and stay put. They don't want to make their way back to the coop in fear of getting wet so they stay still. If you have a dry coop, don't let them out if it's raining and cold. I keep my chickens in the coop which...
Hello,
The two hatchlings were hatched under a hen or a incubator ?
Does not make sense. If the eggs were just hatched, you shouldn't take them away from the hen who is taking care of them. They need to be taught to eat and drink. The mother hen who is the "adopted" mother will take care of...
I have 12 ducks.
8 hens.
No roosters.
All my animals live and play and sleep together. I have 7-drakes and 5 hens. (female ducks).
When the drakes ae in mating season, I seperate the boys and they do just fine. I put the boy's with the chickens.
I never know when mating season begins so I just...
