    Dogs And Chickens

I have an AKC doberman pincher. She's well trained. We've done obedience & we'll be starting agility training next month. I have never had any probems with her around the chickens. Even when she's been out unsupervised, she just herds them towards the barn... out of the yard. I'm not saying she...

Mt Hope auction-March 31-Apr 2. what peas are you looking for?

I've been wanting to go for a couple years now... can't seem to get time off work. I'm off on the 31st and I work midnite shift on the first. Maybe I'll try to go this year. I'm still wanting opal peafowl.

November Hatch -- Who's going to have late fall babies?

Quote: 195! And, in a cold climate! Wow! Mine will need to be brooded in the basement. That is not something I look forward to, but I do look forward to babies! I had to have something to do... At least until my peafowl start laying in the spring. Then I'll be busy hatching for myself!

November Hatch -- Who's going to have late fall babies?

I set 195 eggs on the 29th. I have silkies, project mille fleur cochins, mottled cochins, leghorn crosses, standard salmon faverolles, wyandottes, and a couple other breeds in there. Most of them are for orders. I plan on brooding them in the barn. Too messy for the house!

    Peacock at Humane society- Oregon

Quote: I just checked the Pa listings... they want $100.00 for a 3 month old peachick. That's waaaay too much for me to pay for a peachick of unknown origin! They have an adult blackshoulder male for $150.00 - that's not too bad. Either they want to keep them or they have no idea what a good...

WTB: Mixed Hatching Eggs - 1 Dozen Bantam Assortment With Silkies

I have a limited number of eggs, but I sell the bantam eggs for $10.00/dozen. I have pure Mille Fleur Booted Bantams, White silkies, and a white frizzle cochin hen in with the silkies, so a possibility of a sizzle/cochin. I also have a true sizzle, but she's currently broody... therefore, not...

    WTB-Bantams for 4H (central Pa)

We have 4 silkie roos (not for sale) who are inseparable. They are different ages and only 2 are from the same hatch. They get along with each other so well, I currently cage them in pairs at night. Maybe your silkie boy is just lonely? ETA: SIlkies are really hard to identify gender. I was...

    WTB-Bantams for 4H (central Pa)

I have some bantams available... Check the link to my website - breed listing is on the 2nd page. We're not too far from State College. I drive to a friend's house in Port Matilda every once in a while. Not a bad drive. Just send me a pm if you're interested. I personally would recommend our...

    Upside down?

Not sure what you mean by upside-down... Chicks hatch with their heads tucked up under their wing, so they often look upside-down. Is that what you mean? If so, then... Yes, it's normal.

Chickens with mildly poopy butts and one rooster died. PLEASE RESPOND*

How old was the roo? How old are the other chickens with him? Breed? Was the roo showing any symptoms before dying? You said he didn't have the pasty butt, but any other issues? Is it possible the other chickens picked on him... didn't let him eat/drink? If that's the case, that could be what...

Bantam Cochin/Frizzle chick having difficulty walking???

I had one hatch like that earlier this year. I left it in the 'bator with a buddy & it was doing fine, up walking around by the 2nd day. It ate, drank, and pooped, but never gained any weight. Died on the 5th day. I think there was an internal issue. It was a frizzle also.

4 week rooster - I think he is dying

If it were my little roo, I'd bring him in the house overnight. If he was even slightly injured when the roost fell, the other chickens might have picked on him. After being possibly injured, picked on, and trampled, it's no wonder he's having a hard time. Just keep him comfortable inside...
