When Should I Assist? Update: She's out!

Thanks. Do you think I need to do anything in regards to the incubator? She's the only one in there. I assume the humidity is not such an issue now? Do you think it will continue to run until manually turned off? I wouldn't be so concerned if I was going to be here to watch it, but since I'm not...

When Should I Assist? Update: She's out!

EDIT: She's out! I posted this just before I went out to feed everyone and came back to her mostly out of the shell! I had to help remove the shell from her head as it was sticky, but she was already out of the shell otherwise. :) Now to figure out where to put her when I need to leave today...

"Meyer hatchery" how true is it??

I have two and mine lay a pretty pastel blue egg.

    What breed is this chicken?

I agree it could be a EE as well if it has a pea comb. I remember now that one of my EEs had a similar pattern as a chick. She is a beardless EE.

    What breed is this chicken?

I can't say for sure, but it reminds me of my silver penciled rock as a baby. I called her Ripley because her chick down color reminded me of fudge ripple ice cream. LOL

    Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

Thanks. I knew the chick down wouldn't be barred, but I thought they would feather in as barred as soon as the feathers came in. It's good to know that the barring comes later in single-barred male chicks. Just for a visual, these are photos of him when he was about 6 weeks old (no obvious...

    Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

Thanks. I have a question about single vs double barring. I understand that the cockerel is single barred. His barring appears to be confined to his tail, saddle, and hackle feathers. When he was a chick, he didn't develop obvious barring until around 8 weeks. Another cockerel in the same hatch...

    Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

These are my two offspring from a Blue Orpington over a Cream Legbar cross. My Cream Legbar hen doesn't have much of a crest, and apparently didn't pass it on. The pullet just started laying olive eggs :yesss: (I was considering adding an olive-egger to my little flock and now I have one). As...

    Australorp x Cream Legbar?

I have two chicks from a Blue Orpington rooster over a Cream Legbar hen. I don't think the pullet is laying yet, but she is solid black just like your girls. The only tell is the tail/tail-set (that's all Cream Legbar) and the off-color earlobes. Her brother, however, got the blue gene from Dad...

    Faverolle's heat tolerance?

It was. I lost them during the time the temp was over 100 for several days. They were in an open air coop/pen (covered dog run panels), but it was just too much for them unfortunately. I think they would have been fine if it wasn't for the 100+ stretch of days.

    Faverolle's heat tolerance?

I lost both of mine this summer during a heat wave. I was quite fond of them, but I don't think I'll get others for a while because of it.

Marans Chicks: What Colors are These Chicks?

Just to let you know, I was looking up some of the names you sent and it appears Arla Meininger has recently passed. https://newzgroup.com/MILegals/284963-08-09_1001.pdf "The decedent, ARLA MEININGER, died 07/18/2018."

    Meyer Hatchery

I wouldn't have thought so either. I've just seem multiple references to ducks from Meyer shipping from CA. I look on their site once and saw a Q&A in which they said their waterfowl ships from the west coast. I've ordered chicks from them twice. My biggest disappointments was getting two...

    Meyer Hatchery

I believe Meyer's ducklings are shipped from the west coast and the chicks ship from Ohio.

Is My Salmon Faverolles a Roo or Just a Strange Color??

This is the Salmon Faverolles pullet I got from Meyer last fall. Unfortunately, I lost both my SFs to heat this year when temps were over 100 for about two weeks. Two waterers and lots of shade, but I lost them on different days while I was at work. This girl was a hoot - I miss having her around.
