I have a Wyandotte hen and an Ameracauna Rooster, the eggs are fertilized and I was wondering what characteristics would the hatchlings have or could it be a crap shoot and you never know?
A little over 2 weeks ago we got 2 new hens to add to our flock of 5. I know it takes awhile for them to get accepted but they are still chased out of the coop in the evening when they are going to roost. During the day the stay inside more than out and seem to stay away from the others. 3 of...
Just wanted to put up some pics of our hens and roo, they are from 17 to 19 weeks. This is our first experience owning chickens and love this breed, we do have a Wyandotte also in there and will be adding RIR's soon.

Yeah, I only have one and he makes just a few little noises while out but sounds more like regular chicken sounds. I didn't know if it was maybe more breed specific in this case or not
I was wondering when they would start crowing also, I have a Ameraucana rooster(kinda has colors like a female chinese pheasant). He is about 18 weeks and hasn't shown any sign of wanting to crow.
Currently we have 4 hens and a rooster all roughly about 20 weeks old. This past week when I go to lock the door to the coop in the evening the rooster has been sitting below the hens on the poop board, previously he has been up on the roost with them. I guess I'm just worried that he's is...
Yeah I hope they lay there eggs in there after all the planning and time we spent building them. I also have one hen that seems a bit slow, she will sit on the poop board below the roost and I have to move her up cause I don't want the others going on her, I don't know if she's sitting close...
I have just gotten my flock of hens about a week ago and they have adjusted well now. They go in and out of the coop, at night they hop up on the roost to sleep and just peck around all day.
My question is I figured that they might be curious and check out the nest boxes even though they are...
Thanks, I think that they are settling in better but may take a few days. When we came to lock them up tonight 3 of the ameraucana hens were on the left of the roost, the ameraucana rooster was in the middle about a foot away from the hens and on his right was the wyandotte hen by itself. But...
I just got 4 hens and a rooster today. Three of the Hens and the Rooster are Ameraucana's and the other Hen is a Wyandotte. The Wyandotte is a little agressive towards the others but the others have lived together since being hatched. Out in the run they seem to do alright with each other...
Thanks, the others that I am getting are Rhode Island reds an d Ameraucanas. I know they will fit fine but when looking at the Wyandottes in person they did seem rather large, but it makes sense that they would be more fluff and should fit.
My nest boxes that I have built are 12x12x14 and am getting mostly medium size birds but was thinking of getting a Wynodette and didn't know if this box size would be to small for them since they are larger. The boxes are completely covered and do have a slightly smaller opening on the front...
