We are Legal!
Just got back from the town Planning Committee meeting and they have granted our request to keep our backyard chickens!
Posted our story earlier this week in this section as "school Science project" and outlined the approach of going to Planning for a variance...
just looking at layout options for coop and thinking of the PVC type feeder and nipple watering system that we can refill from outside the coop area.
But in doing this the feed tubes and the water tubes) are on opposite sides of the coop ( about 4 ft apart)
Food does not have to be right...
Curious if anyone has noticed a set height-temperature ratio?
For example 3 feet from floor is 95deg 4 feet is 90 deg etc? Just setting up and wondering how much room to leave above brooder.

I know what you mean by math working out! Just working an a 6 by 6 coop and even when it is square you have to know your feet and inches. Throw in a sloped roof and math on the go!

that is an excellent idea! I can see also how it can be adapted to other quick growing greens ( salad, wheat grass etc)
I do not plan on having as much run room, but a small pallet could be slid in and out pretty easily!
