on september 5th we had one barred rock hatch 2 chicks. we cannot raise them, and plan to take them to the feed store to be distributed to people who will raise them. how should we separate the mom and babies? thanks
hello. today i discovered 3 silkie eggs under my broody cochin. one had no development and we needed one egg to finish a dozen we were selling, but the other two had (minor) development.
The (Day 3?) Egg was a bit dark (not a strong flashlight) version of a small piece of tissue with the...
oh well. they both have comfy homes so in the meantime our cochin will sit on golf balls until we can find her some eggs. we actually have a chicken friend who is hatching some of our eggs with the bator we leant her. maybe we can swap them with the golf balls...
Hi. Can I graft my 3~ week old Ducklings to my bantam cochin (broody)? She's been sitting for 3 days (Officially broody for 2 days) and I have no need for chicks now... but I hate seeing her there with some unhatchable Golf Balls. Are the ducks too old to like her or too big for her to recognize...
Hello World of BYC. Today my duck waddles (the one who almost died last week :O) was mating (on top of, shaking) my little White Crested Sunshine. What does this mean? I did order all females, but could a male have slipped through? It'll be fine if they don't end up in our chicken coop, but I...
yep they eat (purina) Layena Plus Omega 3 they call it. they used to have those calcium bumps on the shell now not so much. i have some oyester shells lying around from when they were babies. they loved it so ill toss a pile in the run. thanks.
Now that I am at good production I notice that some pullets will still give me a double yolk and the other day, a shellless egg. They've been laying for a few weeks. Are they okay?

she passed the walk test.
integrated fine under the heat...
breathing clearing up a bit. peeping still faint but more frequent. she's sleeping (not dying because all her breething and peeping are as if she was awake.). but she cant walk so if she got too hot under the Lamp ii would nt know because she cant walk or aything to get out from uner it
thanks a lot for the support. she seems to move her head around a bit, (which is acitivty, any activity is good) but still can't stand.
i think if we try hard she'll make it.
