Hello! I have a couple of questions. I’m considering raising male BB turkeys next year for meat. I know blackhead can be a problem. I also know turkeys can pick on chickens. Ideally they’d all free range together. But I realize that could be problematic. What are your suggestions? They would not...
Hmmm. I was thinking porcelain d'uccle because of the grayish color. It's not brownish like the Belgium bearded I've seen. Maybe 2,3 are just some weird Easter egger? I guess it'll be fun seeing what they grow into.
Can anybody tell me what these are??
Chick 1: kind of has a "chipmunk stripe" on back. Old English game??
Chick 2 and 3: yellow with black spots on back and one on head. I have no idea!
Chick 4,5,6: grayish color, feathered legs, 4 toes. Pretty sure they're porcelains.
I have 3 broody runners and one drake (who is being kind of broody himself). They have about 30 eggs all together. The first ones are due to hatch in 5 days. (I've candled them and everything looks good). I plan to sell the ducklings (although I might keep one). I've been planning to get bantam...
Hey there! I haven't logged on in about 6 months so here's an update. I had 5 ducks who were fenced in but kept getting out. I took down the fence and everything was great. Ducks were happy, I was happy. They never roamed too far and still went in their house at night to be locked up. But while...
This morning I found my duck limping and when u checked her foot it looked like bumble foot to me. I've been putting neosporin on it today while reading up on what to do.
Maybe I just missed where you explained this. If so, sorry for the stupid question. But did you soak her foot and then PEEL...
I'll check out that link Miss Lydia. Thank you!
Luelromun, I just noticed her laying down more often yesterday but she wasn't limping. Then, this morning as soon as I let them out of the house I noticed her limping.
I soaked her foot in salt water for about 5-10 mins and patted it dry. Then, I put neosporin cream on it. This pic is before the neosporin. Now I'm REALLY worried because after I cleaned it up it looked a lot like bumble foot to me. I'm reading as much as I can about it right now. I let her go...
I noticed yesterday that my sweet little runner, Stella, was relaxing in the shade a little more than usually. But I didn't them much of it. It was a hot day. But this morning when I let them out for breakfast I noticed her limping. I checked her foot and noticed two small spots on her middle...
Hmm. I hate to just throw it away. Do u think it would be safe to cook and then feed back to the ducks? If not, I WILL throw it away. I would just prefer not to waste it.
My girls have recently started laying and so far I've been finding eggs in the nest boxes. A couple of times I've found an egg on the other side of the house (and one in the nest box) in the middle of the day. Yesterday, in the middle of the day, I found an egg in the bottom of their pool. I had...
