    Pekin X Call duck

Hello, I'm not sure where to post this question. I have a female Pekin duck and two (one white and one gray) male call ducks. If I were to try to hatch her eggs is there any way of telling what size the babies would be. The reason I'm asking is because if they are smaller than pekin...

    Hatching call duck eggs

Hello, I am trying to hatch my first batch of call duck eggs. I keep reading that they will sometimes hatch at 26 or 27 days. Is this the rule or the exception? I am on day 27 and out of 24 eggs two of them have externally pipped and I can see movement in there. The other eggs I don't see...

    chicks dying

I received chicks last week from McMurray. They all seemed happy and healthy - then last weekend, at a week, they started dying. At first I thought maybe they were too cold (our house is very cold but I had them under lights and last winter I got a lot of chicks and they were fine) but now...

    Handling baby homing pigeons

I want to get some rollers too. I'm new to all of this...we've had doves before but they've never had babies (or even laid an egg) this is the first time I've had pigeons. I'm very excited about getting the rollers and working with my homer babies. :)

    pigeon eggs

hmmmmmm. never thought about that. I really don't know if they're male or female. One pair successfully hatched one set of babies....so I have at least one male/one female. I know there is always a bird on the other nest....not sure if it's the same bird or if they're changing off. Don't...

    pigeon eggs

I have another stupid "newbie" question. I have one set of pigeons that have successful hatched two babies. I have another pair setting on eggs in the nest boxes. She's on the very bottom and I'm not sure when she started sitting - but I suspect it's been long enough they may not hatch. A...

    Handling baby homing pigeons

Hello, I just got started in homing pigeons. My first pair hatched their babies about 10 - 14 days ago. The adult birds won't let me handle them and I'd like the babies to be more tame. I pretty sure I'd read somewhere that you can start handling the babies at 10 days to get them used to...
