    Muscovys in brooder

Thank you I am going to try this. I have started putting them outside during the day in an enclosed pen and they still cheep like mad. They are so inquisitive but cute.

    Muscovys in brooder

What age roughly should my muscovy ducks be taken out of the brooder. They are only a week old but seem very bored already with their surroundings. Constantly chirping. I have let them out for a wee run around the kitchen but they do not like going back in. Are ducklings hardier than chicks.

    Housing ducks (Pics)

If you have a duck and drake it wont be long before you have too many ducks.(Stating the obvious.) If water is an issue stick to hens, ducks are very messy.

    Rhode Island Reds

I live in Newtownabbey in N Ireland and know that people from here read this forum. I really need homes for five RIR roosters who are about 7 months old. They are just starting to crow and are getting a bit frisky with my poor hens. Would anyone like to have them. I know roosters are not popular...

can anybody help me choose a breed?

The call ducks are only loud when one of them gets separated from the rest but they are quiet at night. But perhaps I don't notice the noise as they are a bit away from the house. Come to think of it my neigbour has three calls and I never hear them very often. I kind of like the noise they make...

Do you ever encounter people that don't know where eggs come from?

I sold some ducks to a lady who genuinely asked me if the drakes would lay eggs too.

can anybody help me choose a breed?

I have call ducks and they are lovely and as they are small not too messy - but even then you will have to change the water in the pool often as they make it sooo dirty really quickly. I have to say they are actually very messey and the place ges very muddy with them, does it have to be ducks...

    Sticky shut eye

I have searched and found information on this topic here but just wanted to clarify something. My poor banty had a shut tight eye which I put antibiotic eye cream on and wiped with saline solution and got the eyelid opened. I rang my vet who said I should add the antibiotic for a few days to...

    Rats!!!

Oh dear. Went out to give chickens and ducks some water and saw a hugh rat in the run, it did not even move when it saw me, just sauntered away when I went towards it. Its all my fault, my husband will say. I have a feeder inside the coop but I can't help feeding them outside. I guess I wll...

    New to frizzles

I think I will wait. I just feel a bit sorry for them as I have some RIR chicks who were adopted by one of my hens and they are having a ball outside. However mum and chicks snuggle up each night and I guess keep each other warm. The chicks pecked at the frizzles when I tried to introduce them...

Here is a picture of my frizzles.Do you think they are big enough to go out to the main coop? I am worried as they are so small.

    New to frizzles

Thanks for the advice I really did not know that. I especially got two frizzles as I thought thats how to keep them the same breed. I do have cochins so I will let them all mix in together then. I still have the frizzels in a brooder as I think they look quire fragile but I may chance putting...

    New to frizzles

I have just today bought a pair of Frizzles (white) a cock and hen. I believe they are about five weeks old, I have put them in a brooder for now as I felt they were a little bit young to be on their own for heat especially at night. I will look up the breed and find out as much as I can about...
