    just ordered a incubater friday and one of my hens went to nest today. i guess i will have a bunch of chicks this year!!

    it's hard to tell who is laying and who's not in my flock. it's a free range deal here. the hen house is closed at night, but they go in and out as they please during the day. i work second shift,so i'm only here in the morning.

    i just checked for eggbound. it seems like her tummy is painful. i didn't find any signs of being eggbound.

    bumble foot surgery

    well my bumble foot hen is doing well. i have one more to do. i replaced all the perches in the hen house,and lowered them as well.

    my beautiful speckled sussex roo is loosing the feathers on his neck. he has quit crowing. is still eating and drinking,and seems to have lots of engery.......

    i just did my first one today. i have the same worries. if it doesn't heal in a few days i will do it again. i'm sure this takes practice. i was shaking when i finished.

    o.k. i have never wormed my flock. the oldest of them are two years old, the youngest are two months. i have about 30 birds. what do i buy, and how do i administer?

    Anyone let their Silkies free range with the flock?

    i only have one silkie, a roo. he runs the yard with the rest of my mixed flock. my big roo , a speckled sussex runs from him. he has no game and can't dance well enough for my gals. he goes in the hen house at night with the rest of the flock.

    bumble foot surgery

    just did my first bumble foot surgery. don't know how well i did. i managed to get the scab off and squeeze out bunch of gunk, but i don;t know if i got it all. i'm still shaking! my poor hen!
