I would probably start with 25. Unless you are lucky, you will probably loose some to predators or disease. If you start with 25 then you will probably have enough left to learn a lot in the first year. Then you can decide how many you want to add to your flock next year!
I've read here that most people keep their hens and roos together. But if I want to make sure that my eggs are not fertilized shouldn't I keep them in separate sections of the coop and run? Then I can bring them together only when I want chicks???
For the waterer you show it is easy to screw the lid on crooked...I did this and all the water leaked out. But when I made sure to screw the lid on the right way, it worked like it was supposed to.
