Any help is appreciated.
In the last week we have lost 4 hens. I can't seem to see any track of predators but can't rule it out. I also removed our rooster thinking he may be doing it but just lost another yesterday. Here are a few pics of the last one we lost. Can anyone provide any help...
i was thinking about the older ones starting to molt and this would be their first time molting. Also yes they were separated prior to joing the older hens, also surprisingly there was very little fighting maybe for an hour and then they all figured out the chain of command.
Well this spring I got a new batch of pullets as my other hens were getting older. But when i recently added these new ones into the flock(same coop and run) as the older hens, the laying hens stopped laying eggs. Is this a normal behavior or odd? Shoudl I go back to putting golf balls in the...
Ok, I think I got 2 pullets and 2 roos but need help confirming
The two in the foreground i believe are roos and the one in the back is a pullet
The one on the left I think is a pullet and on the right a roo
Another shot of what i thinks are the roos.
My kids wanted to try to hatch a couple eggs when one of our hens went broody, well we did and today we found 2 chicks in the coop.
Cute little buggers
She is taking great care of them
My question is, should I take them out or let her raise them?

Google is what got me to Juvey black rat snake. Just was looking for more confirmation. Also should I be worried about more young ones tryign to get in?
I found this little guy trying to get into our basement thru our garage lastnight.
I think it is a black rat snake but not positive.
Can anyone help confirm or deny. Also good or bad to have?
Also I am in SW PA, if that helps or is needed
We are patiently(yeah right) for our first eggs. Thought for sure it was yesterday. ONe hen was in the next almost all morning squaking and carrying on, but then nothing. I am hoping that means any day now.
They may end up being dinner but I need to convince the wife and kids or at least make sure they are not around.
Anyone have a link to instructions to culling and dressing the birds if it comes down to this.
