The barred rock may not be a roo. I have two hens of this breed with very large bright combs. i would have sworn they were roos but i get a pretty tan egg from each of them almost every day.
Well after those to died i havent had any more issues though i am still watching closely for and signs of illness in the rest of the flock. My husband burned both of them before i could get the info and decided to send them off for testing. So unless another one dies thats out. Also i am curious...
Had what i think was infectious coryza in my flock two years ago. At the time i had just started keeping chickens and had a mixed flock from about five diff places. Stupid I KNOW NOW! Also did not know survivors carry the disease for life. I still have one of them ( my first hen) and 18 others...
Purchased a billy this weekend he is 6 mo old fainting cross (doean't faint though), and untamed so i am glad i purchased him alone bc it will be much easier to tame him if he has to count me as his herd. Mabey in the spring i will look for a girlfriend for him. :)
What city are you in? If close to portland i will take her in I had one in the spring with a crooked leg that needed extra tlc and she is doing fine now.
