This isn't a unique funny story but it always makes me laugh... When I throw a piece of bread out to the chickens and one nips it up and runs with the whole piece of bread in her mouth with the rest of the flock chasing behind. :) It just makes me giggle!
Anyone want this guy? He's a bantam Mille Fleur. He was born in the end of November and was supposed to be a hen. ;) Instead he's a crowing all the time male! I don't mind giving him away for free when it's to a chicken-lover. Just come get him please.
We live near Gassville.
Will they find the pond even if it's acres away? Will they come back to roost at night or should we build a little duck house on the pond? I'm looking forward to getting some. Do they need anything different in their brooder as ducklings? I think I read that they make a mess of the water more...
Mainly yard ornaments, like my chickens, but we would eat the eggs also. My main concern is if they'll need access to water and that water needing to be changed frequently. (Our closest pond isn't close to the coop.)
I'm interested in getting started with ducks (in addition to my chickens). Anyone else have ducks? Anything I should consider beforehand? Should we have a kiddie pool for them? How often will it need to be changed, if so?
I found an old thread about Ortho Bug B Gone Max but there was no answer about how safe it is around chickens? The ticks have already begun to crawl here and we usually use this stuff to keep them in check all summer. If it's not safe can someone suggest something that is safe but effective to...
Do you guys do anything to keep your chickens warm at night? Mine are 9 months old, but I'm worried about them. We found a bantam dead the other morning (in the coop).
Thanks guys. I should've realized that just because the dogs were 'ok' with the chickens one day that it wouldn't always be 'ok'.
I love the picture! <3
Our dachshunds have been doing fine with the chickens. We have a new dog (about a month ago) and newer chickens (a week ago). I let the dogs out and we lost ALL our newer chickens. Polish, cochins and silkie. :'(
If we put up a electric fence up for the dogs so that the chickens can run while...
I got such a thrill out of looking at the chickens at the Baxter County fair last night! Made me even more excited for the Silkie and Polish (and Cochin) chickens we should be getting tomorrow! I couldn't believe how HUGE some of the roosters were too! One bird had the coolest short...
Wanting the pretty hens for pets.

Going tonight to look around right after my daughter is in the baby contest!
