Thank you both Rich386 and Nevada Sun. Since I will only have 4 hens I believe I'll give the bottle waterer a try.

Has anyone used the type of waterer that hangs on the inside of rabbit cages for watering pullets/hens? Will they use it? Will it provide enough water? I am hopeful it will work similar to the nipple-type waterers. Anyone?

Thanks for your input, ChickEngineer. I now plan to use sand in the coop for ease of cleaning and the fact that it can also serve as an indoor dust bath. I will have two galvanized trays under the roost, covered with wire, to make that cleanup a breeze. My coop, when complete, will be 7 x 7 with...

After further reading I am going to use 3" or so of quality sand on top of the concrete.

I plan to feed my chickens "Scratch and Peck", so what style feeder will work best for their whole grain feed? Can I use a self-filling type or must I put it in an open-style pan? Thanks for comments.
