For now I have 2 hens 2 roosters and 12 chicks (from 14 eggs out of our home made incubator). I also found my silkie hen sitting on 4 eggs.
Anyone looking for a Americana or/and silkie roo in the Orange County NY area? Free to good home.

We have 35 chickens.
3 Roosters:
1 Blue Copper Marens,
1 Salmon Favorelle,
1 Wellsummer (we think)
32 hens:
2 Buff Orpingtons,
4 Silver Laced Wyandottes,
10 White Leghorns,
5 Red Stars,
6 Easter Eggers,
1 Jersey Giant cross,
4 barnyard mixes (1 is Silkie roo x WL, 1 is Silkie roo x EE, 2 are Spangled Hamburg x barnyard mix roo)

I am currently at 23, but am getting more next week. I have a mixed flock, mostly layers and a couple cutie bantams just for fun. Dang Chicken math.

3 RIR
2 EE
4 White Leghorn
4 Delaware
1 Australorp
1 Brown Leghorn Rooster
1 LF Buff Cochin
1 Silver Laced Wyandotte
1 Ancona
1 Andalusian
1 California Grey
1 Golden Laced Polish
1 Bantam Frizzle Cochin
1 Silkie Rooster

Next week, I will be getting a couple bantam Cochin hens and a couple EE pullets, with a roo. I might pick up a couple more too, but not sure until I get there. I have a lot of family and friends who will buy eggs from me, so the more I have, the better. I just need to build a second coop for my bantams. DH doesn't know, but I may be building a couple more than that also. Dang, chickens are so addictive!!

I have my first ever chickens...six lovely pullets!
3 Golden Laced Wyandotte
2 Black Copper Marans
1 Buff Orpington

They are such a great source of happiness and entertainment! Hooray for me!

Down to 7 right now - looking to add a couple hens to be back to 10..

Is this my fate? 5 to 70? I started with six when I was fourteen. Down to only two of the original hens, but in my fifth year of chicken keeping I suddenly have twenty-one.

I have 62 currently. I believe that there is no such thing as too many chickens! (At heart, in real life you may be able to have to many do to things like costs, space, etc.) But other than that, the more the merrier! At my peak last summer I had 78 chickens.
