@Magnolia Ducks awesome, I did the stuffed animal, I will get him a mirror! And @DuckyDonna I have built a 16’x8’ run for them but I don’t feel thats a great quality of life 24/7. Do you let them free range when you’re home? Thank you guys for the responses!
Hi everyone! It’s been a while but I’m in need of the byc family for advice and guidance again. I’ve had ducks for about a year and a half now and I always let them into my fenced in backyard in the morning and put them back into their shelter at night. I work 12 hr days (usually a little...
@Miss Lydia no progress, it seems when I try putting on a hobble (I don’t stick any tape to the leg or put it on tight) the leg swells more until the hobble is tight around it. The duckling seems to be starting to opt against moving at all, I’m concerned the most humane thing I can do at the...
Definitely possible but I think since it came out the side of the egg rather than the air pocket that it probably happened there. By the time the duckling was fully hatched I think it was the only one in the incubator though
So if it’s not splay leg should I take off the hobble? It’s definitely prohibiting the duckling from moving as much but is keeping his feet under him at least and he’s starting to spread his feet right
Just looked up perosis, and that might be the problem due to swelling. This has been an issue since hatch though. Any sure indicators it’s perosis or splayed leg? Doesn’t really seem to hurt the duckling
Hi everyone, hatched some new ducklings on the 21st. One duckling took a day longer to hatch and came out the wrong side of the egg. One foot came out kind of balled up and would seem to get better after swimming and I hoped with proper amounts of niacin plus additional poultry vitamins and...
If I have to feed them every night I'm screwed, I'd be willing to plant stuff but and could probably manage grains like once every two weeks but that's it.
