1. My hen has been laying for almost a year now. She started sitting for most of the day, but now she ignores the nest. She has made six nests now. She completely uprooted my garden to lay her egg last week. I have tried giving her the whole yard so she can lay anywhere and I have tried...
Hi guys! This is my second time hatching/incubating. Now from what I have heard if you wash the egg it loses the special coating the hen puts on it. Then bacteria can grow in it. It did rain before I got the eggs so did the coating wash off? And is that why I lost 4 to bacteria? My hen also...
They haven't made much progress. I think they are weak because it's later than the hatch date. I heard lot's of peeping last night, but 4 have pipped. All have the shell cracked and not the membrane. Thank you!
One of my eggs pipped yesterday by just breaking the shell. The membrane part had a small black dot, but no signs of a hole. How did my duckling break the shell and not the membrane? Today 4 have the same problem and as the first. Thank you so much!!:)
I have awesome news. I just came into the room and saw a piece of shell cracked.
I have awesome news. I just came into the room and saw a piece of shell that has been cracked. I'll keep watching it. Thank you for all of your help!!
Okay I'll do that immediately. I wanted to candle some of the eggs and when I picked the second up it shook the egg. Many of the eggs have huge air ells but no movement. Is it just too tight fro them to move? I'm so sorry I ask so many questions. Thank you so much!
Yes the air cells have gotten much bigger. I thought I saw one egg shake a little in the incubator, but I think it may have been me hoping. Run dry till the end then? Thank you!!
Hi. I am incubating 11 of my Rouen’s eggs. It is day 27 out of 28. My temperature is 37.0 Celcius and my humidity is at 52%. I was told lockdown happened on the 25th day of incubating. I’m still seeing movement from at least 8. It’s very hard to see because it is all black and covered in veins...
Ops it’s was a typo. Sorry I meant 36.5 C. I opened the top and someone in my family put water in there. I’ll drain it. How do I know if it isn’t forced air? Thanks so much!
Ok I finally got a pic. I can still see movement through the air cell so I think the duck is alive. My heat is at 65.5 C and my humidity is at 68%. The water is still drained is that ok? Thank you!
Okay I can try again. We have terrible flashlights so I figured a phone flashlight would work best. It’s my first time with ducks so we don’t have anything duck related. I hate to sound very uneducated but where is the air cell?
