Pekin

Pros: Silly, Sweet, good for cleaning up parasites in the goat pen.
Cons: A bit dumb, messy.
We have one Pekin, Daisy. She lives in the goat pen with our other duck, a mallard. He is more shy while Daisy will come up and eat out of your hand. We do not need to clean the goat area anymore, for they eat all the goat poop. They clean all the parasites. Daisy is messy, quirting grain everywhere but she always cleans it up. She is a sweet duck, so I would recommend Pekin's to anyone who wants a friendly duck.

Orpington

Pros: Soft, good coat for cold days, nice
Cons: Not good for the humid climates- not that I live in one:)
The Orpington is a breed of chicken named after Orpington, England, which was made famous in part by this breed. Belonging to the English class of chickens, it was bred to be an excellent layer with good meat quality. I love these hens. Our Buffs are friendly. Two of them are kind of scared of me, but one is very sweet. I handle her the most. I have good advice for if you live in a tropical area with lots of sun and humidity- do not get these cute fluffy hens. Ours have very thick coats, and when it is 90* F she is pale and panting so hard. Hope this helps!

Mallard

Pros: Pretty, nice to watch for a while, slug patrol experts:)
Cons: Noisy, unfriendly
If you want a duck that is not for a family, not to hold and cuddle. This duck is great! Our mallard is a good duck, but very scared of humans. He is fun to watch, and eats all of the slugs. We do not have a lady duck so I can not tell how many eggs they lay. Our drake will eat out of our hand, but it takes a lot of training to teach him to do it.

Pros: Cute, cuddly, smart.
Cons: Escapers
These chickens are very nice. Our hens were the sweetest and calmest the minute we got them. They lay light blue eggs. Our Buff Orpington's laid more eggs, but these chickens laid more than our frizzle! They are great with children, so a great family pet. Enjoy these cute chickens!
