Marans

Pros: big, quick growing, pretty eggs, not aggressive, not flighty
Cons: can't think of any
I absolutely LOVE my blue copper marans. They are the best birds ever. They grow fast, it took mine a little longer than usual to start laying, but once they do they produce big beautiful chocolate colored eggs. The roosters grow fast enough that they make an excellent dual purpose bird. They're friendly and not at all flighty, in fact - I think mine are literally too heavy to jump the fence that my Ameraucanas have no problem flying over. I can't say enough good things about them.

Pros: easy to clean, large viewing area, stable, fan, turn eggs without opening, attractive design, easy to adjust, affordable
Cons: doesn't hold enough eggs
I'm happy with my Brinsea, I'm so glad I did some research & chose to buy it instead of some of the other brands out there. I love the fact that you can turn the eggs manually just by tilting the incubator, even without the optional auto-turn cradle you never have to open it!

I also like the fact that I can see in it from the sides, it helps to be able to see what condition the chicks are in when they emerge. I just can't say enough good things about this incubator, the temp. stays stable even when the temp. in my room swings a little at night. I can't forget to mention - it's so easy to clean! (I have heard about how nasty the styrofoam incubator can be). The only thing I could find to complain about would be the fact that it only holds so many eggs!

Maybe I'll have to get another one...

I would highly recommend this incubator for those who don't want to pay an exorbitant amount of money but still want a quality product.
Pros: beautiful, BLUE eggs, yard candy, roos not aggressive, good foragers, broody often, cold/heat tolerant, rare
Cons: small size, broody often
After having these birds for a few years I've edited my review: Ameraucanas are great birds and I adore them! They're great for someone who's going to keep them for showing, breeding, or pleasure. I dont think they'd be very good for meat because they're a little on the small size. I love their medium sized blue eggs though! Nothing compares! Our line of ameraucanas is very broody, which can either be a good thing or a bad thing depending on whether you have a roo to fertilize their eggs or not. They also make good mommas. If you dont have a roo or dont want to hatch chicks them being broody so much might be a pain, but I love that they go broody and take advantage of it every time! My ameraucanas are very friendly if handled when they're young. (of course food training helps) Once they're big they seem to kinda do their own thing but they'll come over and eat out of my hand. All of our roos are human friendy and have never shown any signs of aggression towards humans. Our roos will actually eat out of your hand too! They're beautiful birds to have running around the yard and I highly recommend them!

Pros: friendly, inquisitive, non-aggressive, not broody, big eggs, pretty and come in a wide variety of colors, small combs good for cold weather
Cons: none that I can think of
Easter eggers are great backyard pets and egg birds. They're easy going, friendly, and not flighty. Medium sized birds, easter eggers come in a wide variety of colors and patterns. Because they're mixed birds I find their personalities can vary as much as their appearances. Some of mine are very outgoing and some are more reserved.

Most lay green or blue eggs, but occassionally one will lay brown or pinkish eggs. From my experience, easter egger roos can be friendly and non-aggressive towards hens and humans. My easter eggers are the first to hop up in my lap or on my shoulder when I bring out the treats. Every backyard should have a couple EE.
