Pros: beautiful, nice white eggs, smart, tolerent, friendly.... did I mention beautiful already???
Cons: a little skitish at first but nothing else really
Well, I bought a trio from Cathy Gleason in Dallas, TX this past weekend and they have become my favorite birds out there in this short amount of time! I know my pros above may sound childish but it is true! They are some of the prettiest birds I have come by. They look naturally show-ready and they take the best pictures. The first day I had them I got an egg.... only about 2 hours after they arrived home! Should do great in egg shows as well! These are probably not the best beginners birds but if you're willing to work with them then you should get some! They make the best lawn ornaments and are natural foragers. Oh, and they are also on the critical list of endangered poultry! :D
Pros: sweet, good layers, pretty
Cons: rooster has big (loud) crow
I have three plymouth rocks: a Partridge hen, a Barred hen, & a Barred rooster. Out of all my roosters, he is is the sweetest, most gentle bird. My barred rock hen is a little shy but a VERY good layer. My partridge rock hen is very gentle and nice as well. She was injured in a free range coon accident, and lost an eye. Since then she has been my "sweetheart" chicken. Also: apparently, the chicks are semi sexable as chicks- males are light gray with big white spots on their heads and females are darker colored (almost black and white) with small spots on heads.

Pros: broody, friendly, pretty, fluffy, big
Cons: what cons?
This is my favorite breed! I got two white ones (Angel & Snowflake) for broodies and now they are lap chickens as well!!! I recomend these guys to EVERYBODY!!!! They are great broodies, great pets, and mine are very reliable layers.... dont forget their beauty
! You can fit A LOT of eggs under them to hatch and adopt new chicks if thrown in with their batch on the hatch day. Oh, and my cochin eggs won me grand champion in the 2013 Bluebonnet Egg Show in College Station TX!!!
Pros: hens are good broodies, cute, good show bird
Cons: my cock has an attitude
I have two of these guys, a cock and hen, and I show them. I fell in love with them once I caught a glimpse of their cute beards, blue feet, and that rooster's hansome little stance. My hen lays me beautiful little white eggs just about every other day. The hen, although small, is a pretty good broody. She recently just hatched out another beautiful little girl. I cant wait to show her!!! I reccomend this breed to both showers and anybody who wants to cuddle up with a precious little bantam
