My Pet Chicken
Pros: Was able to order 1 of each breed I wanted.
Fantastic Customer Service
Changing your order is simple
Cons: Shipping was expensive for small orders, but worth it IMO
Was so pleased with my experience with MPC (my pet chicken). They answered all my questions, made suggestions on breeds for my climate, allowed me to change my order as many times as I wanted up until the Thursday before hatch day (Mondays) and all my babies showed up healthy and thriving, Will absolutely order from them in the future. Since they are still babies I cannot tell if they were sexed correctly, but I have faith in this company.
Pros: Wide variety, good stock of bird, arrived safe and healthy
Cons: Shipping costs can be high on small orders
I’ve used Cackle several times and I’m waiting on 36 Orpingtons now.
always gotten extras and always had any questions answered in a timely manner.

No biggy i do not order hatchery chicks for myself the old boss did i stayed on long enough to get the new owner set and now i am ready to let her run her shop as she wishes loosing 15 customers in 3 days OMG how rude can people be Nerves maybe as they have never had a buisness before . but Wow selling things for 2x what the old owner did is the major issue here now i think she will be better off getting her own resources

Think My Pet Chicken does as little as 3 and will sex bantys.
Dunno, maybe so small hard to see to tell gender on them?

I know, I would love to order bantys, but I cant take a chance with the roosters, so I just stick with the normal sized ones.(even the feed store doesn't sex the bantys, but they do every other bird.)

wow yeah thats a realy heathy looking you should do all the steps and have some happy heathy chicks

I've ordered from Cackle 4 times in the past 3 years and have been very pleased with the chicks and customer service. They're my go to hatchery.

What were the issues you had? I have had excellent results with Ideal Poultry and will continue to use them when needed, they have the birds I want and need!

My whole issue was the post office I believe. None of them made it. The post office did not do what they said they were going to do when I called them. I ask to be called and the package held for pickup. They did not do what was requested by the shipping label either. It also ask that I be called and gave my number. They left the chicks on the front door step in the sun in 85 degree weather (Houston TX). I was expecting a 1 or 2 day shipping so I was not sure what day they woudl be there. I have filed a complaint, but we know how that will end up.

Anyway, I orderd red sex linked chicks and they were shipped on time. They were back ordered a little bit at the time. When I had to call to get replacments, Red sex lined were now on back order until this spring. I ask for black sex linked as a substitution, since they were not back ordered, on the voicemail and they sent me a confirmation email the next morning saying they would ship the next week. On the day I expected them to arrive I worked from home, so I would be there when they came. They arrived on Halloween.

Yep, sounds like a USPS screw up to me. I ordered the red sex links first of October and they all arrived doing well and are now growing like little chickens should. They should be laying by the middle of Feb or early March 2014.

(I just saw this..) I've had issues with chicks dying after getting them. Not just from mcmurray, but from ideal as well. And it was a large amount - about half.
No idea what caused it. Have you had the same issues with other hatcheries?

I don't think we've ever gotten a cross beak chick from Murray... Hmm.. One issue I've found is that trampled chicks are pretty common, ESP during the winter. In fact, one winter, all the Cochins died, and all the old english bantams lived. That was odd.

When I ordered from My Pet Chicken I ordered 10 chicks and they all came alive and healthy. I've never ordered my chicks from Murray Mcmurray, but now I won't for sure. I hatched a chick with a crossed beak one time, but she sadly died starving.

I know not everyone are capable of some things but I could not watch a bird starve to death...I would have to dispatch the thing.

I hatch my own birds but I have a relationship with the owners of another nationally known hatchery than mentioned here...Certainly not all hatchery operations are equal or the same.

I agree with mypetchicken review, mine were all malformed silkies and they only sent males when i ordered 8 straight run so i had 8 silkie roos most with the wrong amount of toes on one foot.

i agree with efowl.com review too, my Silkies from there are show quality, as are Rosecombs and Phoenixes from efowls. however efowl did send me a few crossbeak Sultan chicks

I have never ordered chicks and therefore have no preferences but I feel that customer service should be evaluated here.

The chicks could have died from any number of causes. The important thing is to see how MPC handled it. As far as McMurray's goes, what was their response to your dissatisfaction with the quality of birds? I

t seems from the comments thus far that even efowl can send out some cross beaks. They all handled thousands of birds on hatch n send day.
