    chick starter feed

I just joined a mama and her baby she hatched wwith my other 4 girls. The mama and baby (who is 1 month and 10 days) have been eating the chick starter feed. Now that I have combined them all together is there any problem if I feed what chick starter I have left to all of the hens that I have...

    hatching eggs, one? Or multiple?

We are in central California. Been pretty warm at nights here. No lower than in the mid 50 ' s maybe higher. Ooh good to know about her wanting that particular nest. Now I'm a little worried.

    hatching eggs, one? Or multiple?

It is safe from other flock and predators. It just doesn't have a specific nesting box. All my other hens lay their eggs in the one nesting box she has taken over so I just thought it might be easier to decipher the eggs this way. I have an old hub I can put in to act as a nesting box if you...

    hatching eggs, one? Or multiple?

Ok now my next question. If I get eggs for her to hatch I have a separate coop to out just her and the eggs in but it is shielded from the weather but is not enclosed with a nesting box. Will that be OK you think?

    hatching eggs, one? Or multiple?

I have a buff orphington that is going through her broody stage right now. I have always just ever bought chick's. Never eggs. But I am considering it. If I decide to do it, how many should I do? Can I do just one or two? Or do I need more? And advice is appreciated

    Can my chicks go outside.

I would also like to throw in that this small coop is only to house them until they are big enough to go in with my bigger hens. This way my bigger girls can see them and interact without being able to actually get to them. This coop will actually be for our meat pens hen it's time for those to...

    Can my chicks go outside.

Tried to put a pix but I don't think it worked. Oh sorry about that. The sides of the coop and roof are solid but there is about a 4"-6" strip of wire between the walls and the roof for ventilation. Also the back side of the coop is all wire but for right now we have a board covering half of it...

    Can my chicks go outside.

I have an 11 week old buff orphington, and a 12 week old white Plymouth Rock. The coop has solid sides except wiring just along the top. It has an open wire door. It is suppose to get into the 40's tonight. They are fully feathered. Do you think they will be ok?

No more eggs after worming, Why?

Thank you so much. I will try adding yogurt. Do I add it every day ? And do I mix tin their food or just on a tray on the ground for them? And sorry about that. I should have clarified. I clean the coop every weekend but only use the dust about once a month.

No more eggs after worming, Why?

Some good thoughts. Actually the worming that we did was based on what dawg53 had told us. He is super informative. So I did do the second dose of wormer. I dust my girls and the coop lightly with Sevin dust and clean the coop every weekend. I watch for nights but have never noticed any. As for...

No more eggs after worming, Why?

I have a bantam gold laced Wyandotte, and a bantam Columbian Wyandotte. I wormed them for the first time last April (2013), and they were both just over a year old then maybe 14 months. After that I have not gotten another egg since from the gold laced. And the Columbian was scattered for a...
