I have 2 ducks that I've had for about a month now. When I first got them, they looked about the same. I was pretty sure they were Kaiki Campbells. Now one looks the same but the other has molted and is darker with a green head, almost like a mallard but not exactly. They appear to be full grown...
Thanks for the replys. I am planning on leaving the chickens in my small field in fenced in areas. As long as they have protection form the weather, do they have to have a coop or can they stay in the pens at night?
I was thinking about getting some meat chickens this spring. What is a good breed to start with? What about a good number? I don't think I'll be selling any just enough for the family. Are they raised much diffrently than any other chicken? Thanks for any replys.
My chickens do not like the snow. They will go out in there pen if I clear it out then push them out but most of the time they won't go out on their own. Today I opened the main door to see if they would go out. I was hoping they would scratch through the snow and find some stuff to eat. They...
I bought 2 Kakhi Campbell ducks last night. Today I took them out to the coop and introduced them to the chickens. So far everything seems to be going fine. Is it alright to keep the ducks with the chickens? And is it ok for them to eat layer pellets? Thanks for any replys.
I have a hen that has been limping. I looked at the foot today and It appears that there is a splinter broke off in the middle of the foot. Any ideas on how to get it out?
One of my hens has been limping for about a month now. I have looked at its foot and I don't see a cut or any swelling. It looks a little bigger than the other foot but not too much. There is also a dot in the middle of the foot. Any ideas on what it could be?
Thanks for the link. From that I learned that I defenitly have mites. Its seems that they appered fast. I think that they are the nocturnal mites because It was dark when I went out and saw them everywhere. Do I need to clean the whole coop out or can I dust or spary it?
I went out to the coop today to get the eggs. All over the feeders, Eggs, And nest boxes were thousands of what I'm pretty sure are mites. I've heard you can use seven dust to get rid of them. Do you just dust it on them? Are the mites a danger to the chickens or are they just a nusiance? Thanks...
I just got a new rooster 2 days ago along with some pullets. I had all the new chickens in a pen seperate from my other chickens. My dog walked up to the pen and the rooster flew out. Then the rooster started running and my dog chased him. The rooster ended up in some very thick brush and...
