Hi. I have 16 chickens and that I raise for egg production so I am trying to keep thing most economical but one of my Easter Eggers has a raspy throat that sounds like she is gurgling water in the back of her throat. Wheat do you suggest I do?
I was just suggested a high protein feed. What percentage of fat do you suggest? I am currently feeding them game bird feed that is high in protein but that low in fat, while they molt to get them back into egg laying sooner along with corn. What do you feed your hens while they do molt and...
Hi, I've been raising laying hens for about 3 years now, molting seoson always hits me hard though. I currently have 17 hens. I have upped their protein level to about 30%. They have lost quite a bit of weight though. I am feeding them feed that gives them about 2.5% fat along with 2 other feeds...
Hi Everyone, I have an egg buissness in my local town in SoCal and my 19 hens are molting. Does anybody know if there is anything that I can do to conntinue with it even during molting seoson and how long does it last? Does the length of time of molting vary between breeds? I have about 5...
I currently have 3 laying hens who have just begun to produce again. 1 of them was really shaking a lot and she seems more uneasy then the rest of them and more than she normally. Today was her 1st day laying after a long time of stopping. She laid an egg and then went inside their chicken house...
Currently I have 3 laying hens but only 2 of them are are laying. For the longest time (about 6 months) they suddenly stopped laying. It was from the warm California heat through the cooler New Year. They suddenly are slowly beginning to lay again. Does anyone have any other idea why they...
Opppsss... :P Ya I meant Americana, and or Cochins. Ya. I currently have hens that have been crossed between Rhode Island Reds and Black Stars. They have been laying ok for me but they have laid no eggs for about the past 4 months. :(. Have you had any luck with any of these breeds, or that...
I'm trying to decide which hens to get. I currently have 4 Black Star/ Road Island Reds. I'm trying to keep the egg production up even with the 'not so sunny' weather that Southern California has been having recently. I figured I have room for 12 hens in the space that I have for them. I would...
Ok, I've tried everything! (antibiotics,Tyland, ect.) I can't seem to get rid of her MG. I think I'm going to have to cull her. :/. :(. :/. As anybody had to do this, in this situation or have any other suggestions? What would be the best way to do it, preferably with out much blood...
My hen that has had MG bit another one of mine. No cuts, blood or anything. Will or should she be ok? I've given all my chickens antibiotics against it.
No, not really. I knew that the effect that it has had on her eye won't get totally better. I've given her antibiotics for 2 whole weeks. Doesn't that make them uncontagious any more? I've also been giving her Tyland for the past few days to finish getting it all out of her system.
I have a hen recovering from MG. Her feathers aren't in the best of condition. There is stuff matted all throughout her feathers. Should I give her a bath? If so, how? I have been keeping her separate from my other hens.

HELP! This hen has been sick for about 3 weeks now. I've been trying to figure out what it is. I've kept her seperated from the rest of my flock for just about as long. I thought it was Coryza but these photos show her only symtom, her eye. I've done as much research that I thought was possible...
Thanks allot for the info! I'll look more in it later on. No, she just has 1 swollen eye with a white ring around it that I think is slowly going down but ever so slowly. Ya, I saw a picture that looked allot like it on Google and my Aunt had me convinced that's what it is. I didn't want to just...
